JudgeDredd,

Thanks for that very kind offer. Its really appreciated. However I wouldn't want you to spend any money on me as in the end my trouble's are self inflicted and I honestly don't think I deserve your generous gift.

Well if he doesn't get the game for you, I'd be happy to do it myself. Anyone willing to accept their own faults 100% like that deserves my respect and help.

I hope you get out of the city asap...

Courage deserves to be rewarded.[:)]

I think it takes a lot of balls to come out and admit something like this on a public forum.

As a fellow "Drugs-R-Us" UK resident, and having watched people I know go through the same thing you are absolutely right about "getting away". It's not infallible (drugs are everywhere) but I have seen it work with a lot of people.

So, good luck! [:)]

OK its now my second day and I'm feling good and confident so far. Anyone who has been addicted will know the greatest battle is staying off it, not getting off it. Thats where the move will help.

Your comments have helped me in far more than than you'd expect and I'm taking it all in.

Thanks so much.

I'll keep you informed. I will also post during the tricky times that will arise over the next few weeks.

That was quite a laundry list of substances their Wodin.

You're a good friend, I hope you beat them. Wouldn't want to lose you.

Just one addiction can be hell, several, I don't even want to think of it. I have never battled "substance" addiction, but anyone in the medical community can confirm it, an addiction doesn't need to be a substance issue. And non substance addictions can be just as life wrecking.

Looks like most of us will be hoping to hear you are winning :)

wodin,
hang in there mate,I've battled addiction myself. You've already won by recognising the fact that you've got a problem and you're dealing with it.After that everything else seems easy by comparison.Just remember , you're already clean, the urges you get are just the death throes of a drug saying I want more.Spit in it's face, smile and say "aha you bastard! I've already beaten you, what you've got is nothing!" You've already beaten it,Doesn't it feel awesome to be free!!

4th day and still going strong. Today is the first day without any meds to help (methadone).

Felt abit shakey this morning but feel a little better now.

No real cravings so far. I keep my family and you lot and all those men and women who have died in the wars. Inlcuding my great unlce Dominic Costa who died in WW1. Something I've just found out about. HE also won the MM. Strangly enough my Grandads dad buried him as they both swerved in the 1/7th Bn Kings Liverpool Regiment. So in effect his (My Grandads) dad buried his future wifes (My Nana) dad's brother, before they were born!

A MM in the Family! You must be proud. If you contact the Army Museum in Chelsea or the PRO they maybe able to get more info, such as the citation for the award. Also the regimental War diaries may also be helpful in getting further info. You need to find out which regiment the Liverpools now fall under as they were disbanded after being amalgamated into the Manchesters in 1958.The regiment has a long history, formed in 1685,making it one of the oldest.i think he served in the 17th not the 1/7th as there was no 7th Bn.However a 7th was formed in the 1930's but then joined the Royal Tank regt. As of 2006, it forms "A" Company, in the 4th Battalion of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.Ill have a trawl to see if i can find ny more info re the MM.Can you PM me his full name and if poss his service number?
