Rich!

Nice job on the new Pacwar! I noticed in the file after download there was an editor of high quality! Thanks! Which brings me to my question. Some time ago the "Carrier Strike" box/paperwork (and I still have mine!) mentioned an expansion and editor for sale. Did you ever see this or are you aware of one? What with you being a coding god I figured you'd be the man. Thanks for your time. Sorry for the incesant requests for info but I cant seem to get enough PACWAR/Carrier Strike! By the way, how's the mod for PACWAR to Carrier Strike and back to PACWAR going?

Stew,

PS:

Can I too become a coding god like you someday?

Stew,

I think I still have the Carrier Strike Expansion Disk. I don't think it has an editor on it, but I could be wrong. The Expansions disk adds a several good scenarios, and a 1947 campaign. Lots of fun having carriers with bearcats, tigercats, and skyraiders carrying 4000 pounds of bombs. Skyraiders are a Japanese carrier's worst nightmare.

The 1947 campaign is VERY challenging for the Japanese player. Although the Japanese equipment is upgraded as well, it can't match the Americans with their Skyraiders, radar proximity shells and guided missle equiped LBA.

Stew,

Glad you like the new editor! As I may have indicated in previous posts, I'm modifying the Pacwar Editor to work with Carrier Strike. I actually have a working version, but I'm not quite ready to make it available for download yet. Soon...

However, Nicholas Bell did already develop a slick little editor for Carrier Strike. It's even stand alone, not dependent on Excel as mine is (although mine does add capabilities for mass edits). You should be able to download it at the Web Grognard Site:

http://grognard.com/patch.html

Check it out. It works great!

Work is actually proceeding well on my Pacwar / Carrier Strike Link program, but there is still quite a bit to do, and I'll give you more updates later (first beta maybe 4-5 weeks away?). As you can probably tell from the volume of posts, I'm quite consumed with the rest of the Pacwar Matrix Project Team in correcting those inevitable bugs, etc, and that is my top priority right now.

Regards,

Rich

Rich!

There's no Icon for "WOO HOO!" so I'll just ahve to say "THANKS!". I downloaded the editor and it works like a charm! Now for the bad news. I love the fix, ......but..... You have the 244th Sentai flying Ki-100's (an excellent acft, and unit, if there ever was one) but the acft did not reach units until March 45. ref.: "Japanese Army Air Force Aces 1937-45"; pg. 73 & "Japanese Aircraft of the Pacific War"; pg. 134. Again, I cannot thank you enough. If my wife divorces me it's your fault! Matter of fact I'll just send her to you now..... Image

Thanks for the info Rich. Not only did I download your new icons and the editor, but also added your neat site to my favorites.

Glad you like the stuff guys! Yep, you're right Stew; I have the same data on the Ki-100. I guess we got a bit over anxious for its arrival. Michael, Jeremy and I just love that plane!

Rich

Hello Rich,

can you tell us more about your link program. It sounds very interesting to me. How does it work?

Thanks for your time.

The concept for the Carrier Strike link would be that you would never have to use it if you didn't want to. You could always run all the battles in Pacwar. However, if you wanted to jump to Carrier Strike, then in the link program you would:

1) Indicate the Pacwar base that is to be the target of the Carrier Strike battle.

2) Either use the existing Carrier Strike maps (Solomons, Midway, Marianas), or set a corner of the map by Pacwar coordinate that would define the map in Carrier Strike.

3) Port over all ships/TF's heading toward the target base, and all airgroups located on bases covered by the smaller map. Do this before execution in Pacwar.

4) Run the battle in Carrier Strike to conclusion.

5) Port back the Carrier Strike results into Pacwar for all units that took part.

6) Run the execution in Pacwar with Carrier Strike results incorporated.

Anyway, that's the plan. We'll see if it works! I'm currently able to port over from Pacwar into a Solomons setting, but still need to deal with multi-ship Pacwar ships, porting results back to Pacwar, and other map areas.

Regards,

Rich

Hi Rich,

thank you for your quick response.

I have some practice in programming in Visual Basic (Windows or DOS). Let me know if I can help you.

Thanks, Marc
