I'll bet you guys got those clips at "Boardroom games",in Broad Ripple!....[;)]
Exactly right! Yeah, ol' Jerry was always happy to see us coming....that's where I got my unpunched copy of WitP.....
Now that is both hard core and ideal!
You got that right. Those were some fun days.

Halsey playing CNA, circa 1985.

You actually *played* CNA? I didn't even know that was possible! (Never had it myself; I stuck to the "simple" games like WitP, Witw/wite/wie, HTTR...)

Disco still sux!!![:D]
Time hasn't improved that music at all.[:D]

We also played Atlantic Wall, twice!
That game was more manageable.[;)]

CNA twice, one win for each of us.
Still have most of the magnetic clips, somewhere.[&:]

Wellington's Victory, hmm 3 times.
Lost all of them. One was against Dick Sauer.
Never won at Borodino, till Talonsoft put it out as a computer game.[:'(]

We played regimental actions.[;)]

Oh, those were the days! I never thought to take pictures though, dang it!

I wish I had taken pictures of some of the ASL battles my brother, kbad, and I used to play circa 1980...about 15 map-boards, and battles at the brigade/regimental level.

Ray "Skyros" has Victory at Sea by Dunnigan, we just have to find the table that I'm looking for...proving elusive so far.

Are you still looking for the table? Is it the Carrier Avgas Stock per Airplane? In my book it is on pages 86-87 in Chapter 2 "The Ships". It lists the number of sorties per aircraft. This is based on the amount of Avgas on board at a rate of 300 gallons per mission.

Might be after all...can you post it? Ray mentioned this earlier and it did not ring a bell. IIRC it was supposed to do with CV aircraft handling efficiency (number of elevators, cats etc)

That sucked[X(][:'(][;)]

I lost that first CNA twice. Lost to the Italians first, so we skipped ahead to the point where Rommel arrived, and then I lost to the Germans. The very definition of hapless....

Now to remember what the factors mean. Been a long time. Basically I'm trying to get a handle on hourly aircraft launch/landing capacities of each CV.

As i remember it, the factors are:
Max Capacity:
- Number of air factors carrier can carry
Launch Factor: (eg 11/3)
- 11 is half move launch factor,
- 3 is full move launch factor,
- you could also launch up 12 - 22 factors if the air group stayed in the same hex as the launching TF
Ready Factor:
- Total air factors that could move from Landed > Readying > Ready boxes in a turn
Plane handling:
- a/c types that could be operated on the vessel (game restriction)

Notes
An air factor represented three aircraft
Turns represented one hour

Now to remember what the factors mean. Been a long time. Basically I'm trying to get a handle on hourly aircraft launch/landing capacities of each CV

Flat Top Plane Handling Rules in a nutshell

Those are the turn by turn (hourly) normal/minimum number of aircraft factors that can be launched or recovered. The maximum launch, which is not printed on the card, is double the normal launch.

Minimum launch - these aircraft can move a full move during the launch turn. You can launch more aircraft but the ones that exceed the minimum launch capacity must move at normal launch movement rates.

Normal launch - these aircraft may only move half of their movement in the launch turn. You can launch yet more aircraft, but the ones that exceed the normal launch capacity must move at maximum launch movement rates.

Maximum launch- these aircraft may not leave the launch hex in the turn they are launched.

FT does not care about the order of events. So obviously you can use min and normal launch to launch and max launch to recover, should you need to do so.

Ready factor - the number of airplane factors that may do one of the following in one game turn: move from the just landed to the readying box, move from the readying box to the ready box. Movement from the just landed to the readying box arms the airplane factor with (in FT) the ordnance of your choice as eligible by airplane type.

For land installations there is also a "dispersed" box. So you can go from just landed to dispersed to just landed to readying to ready.

Finally, in Flat Top, one airplane factor represents 2-4 aircraft, depending on airplane type and nationality.

That said, the plane handling factors in FT appear to overrate the Japanese CVs. Were one to play FT now, one would require each Japanese CV to have two hangars, with their hangar and readiness capacity split between the two hangars. You could approximate same by reducing the Flat Top Japanese CV Ready Factors by about 30%. Leave the auxiliaries' (AVs) and cruiser floatplane tenders Ready Factors about the same.
