Unfortunately, this re-install includes some new kit and and hard disk partioning. [:(]  I have been meaning to do this for years, since I gave my previous two Dev machines to my twin daughters.

I do a lot of coding and graphics work in my old age, being retired is all well and good but I am a code-monkey with delusions of Van- Goff Syndrome [:D]

My main dev apps are very fussy about their instalation requirements and this time I decided to close my eyes, wipe the lot and get my Ideal setup erm.. setup once and for all. Its going to take me until Yule to get it all together, but it will be worth it.  Honest Mr [:)]

Going to be setting up an old pc as a  server too, just so I have something to kick when it all goes horribly wrong [8|]

Cheers

Jev

Thanks Les. It usually took me a day to a day and a half to get everything back to where it was, but, since I use dialup that was most of the time redownloading all the MS updates and Servicepak 2. Fortunately all I have on my main drive is XP and Win98se, no games, no programs (other than the ones MS installs that I don't need). I use two other drives to hold my games and applications etc.etc. I've had all my drivers backed up on a dvd for quite some time now, so, hardware drivers were never an issue. Just all that MS bs downloading. lol Some games require reinstalling after a reinstall of XP, some don't. (guess it has something to do with the registry). I backup my "My Documents" folder also, so, I don't lose any of my saved games that require the use of that. (something else I don't particularly care about XP or others is putting the save games and certain game files into that folder). I almost think we had better times when things were just in DOS....I built 6 startup boot files and everything was bliss. ;)
