As for why it just popped up at Matrix, well David managed to get a deal with AGOED (the developer). It was not developed under our umbrella.

Dunno quite what is going on here, the game seems to be available from four download sources now, including Matrix. They seem to have pimped the game all over the place! [:D]
I hope any future patches will be compatable with all of them, and the boxed copy(ies) too.

Been playing BOA since release and must say that it is a great game with outstanding developer support. I know of no other developer who I can ask a direct question and be assured of receiving an answer within in a day. This engine will only continue to expand and be refined with their next game on the American Civil War and their third game, Vainglory of Nations. A must buy.

Do not worry, there's only one single game engine. The "only" differences may be in the available languages (French, German, Spanish and Russian so far, in addition to English of course...Italian in the way [8D]).
So all future patches will be compatible, no matter what version you have and wherever you bought it.
Thanks

You won't regret it Judge. It's a great game and the developers have great interaction and responsiveness like maybe you are use to with the Panther gang.

Yes, the AGEOD developers are fantastic, but I must note that we have a number of developers here that are also just as responsive. One of the nice things about smaller publishers and developers is that they still have customer contact.

It certainly is one of my favourite games of 2006.
I 've had it since release, superb game covering the American Revolution. I even got my CD/Case with fancy labeling all the way from France within a couple weeks of my pre-order from AGEOD. What do you think of that Digital River[:'(][:-].
Oh, and mine came with a full color glossy manual[X(].

This is a great game. Best Game of 2006.
Try the demo.
Then buy it directly from the AGEOD website.
http://www.birth-of-america.com/. It's $27.39 there.

tc237,
That's incorrect, but I'll be darned if I can figure out the actual price. I just went to their store and I got the following prices:
29,90 Euros on the Main Page, which as of today's exchange rage is $39.31, whereas we are selling for $34.99
After clicking on Add to Cart, I was given a price of 25 Euros, which is $32.87. However, the same cart then told me that 25 Euros converted to $29.69. At this point, I'm fairly confused and we will bring this up with them to be sure what the price is. Our price was originally set to be the same as theirs, so hopefully we'll get it in sync.
Regards,
- Erik

So much for loyalty! [;)] By the way, the price I got for the CD version which I presume includes their manual was 37,30 Euros with shipping, which comes to $49.03 Dollars, so our $44.99 physical option with printed manual should be in the same ballpark.

I'll buy it from Matrix anyway [:)] I lost confidence in GamersGate after their last change of downloader and I am still waiting for them to fix it so I can download games I bought. [:@] I trust Matrix.

Check how many registered games i have, some are doubles(bought two), and i purchase "hardcopys" from NWSONLINE so i don't have to deal with "you know who". My gripe is with DR...i bought Cuban Missle Crisis from Strategy First's online store, handled by DR...i got alot of emails but never got my game. I decided it's not you[Matrix] so it must just be me, my "unique" situation. You guys are making double on me with Forge Of Freedom as i purchased a new "CD w/manual" just to have it![;)]
Anyhow, i know you were only kidding around, but i'd be curious to see what happens when i place my order for Battlefront CD w/manual from Matrix when it's released[:D].
I will always be loyal...even if i have felt like i have to work a little harder than everyone else to get what i paid for[;)].

Not saying your situation hasn't occurred, HellPatrol, but I can say catagorically that I have never had an issue with DR. I've never even had to contact them. On the contrary,I found their system painless and easy to use.
I've also had to retrieve my digital downloads before, and request my serial numbers and, again, never had an issue.

This one is fairly easy:
€ 25 NO VAT
€ 29.90 € incl. VAT
(US citizens don't pay VAT)
It's explained just below the bill.
However, the same cart then told me that 25 Euros converted to $29.69. At this point, I'm fairly confused and we will bring this up with them to be sure what the price is. Our price was originally set to be the same as theirs, so hopefully we'll get it in sync.
Huhh...
well, $29.69 is the estimate price, not the charged one, but obviously the convertor is somewhat buggy.
This has been reported.

...BoA is a breath of fresh air. It's like a classic board game in look and feel brought to the PC. The features of the "classic" genre being; slim rules, approx 200 units per side and as Gibbon said, forming the challenge of being "easy to learn and hard to master". Avalon Hill's 1960's classics DDay, Stalingrad, Afrika Korps, Bulge, Waterloo, Chancellorsville, come to mind....
How about Avalon Hill's 1776?
I have had this game since it was released. A fine product.
However, this game (in concept and play) is simply AH's 1776 that was coded up for a PC with a few additions. I am really not sure how they got away with it without infringing copyright, but hats off to them for fun game.

Feltan
