Saw Fighter trash pit at 4:43pm EST. I didn't try to join it mainly because I'm still looking at the manual and haven't even run through the training missions yet.

It is displaying the in multiplayer browser as OFFLINE with NA ping. [:(]

At least it is showing up.

Tophat1812, what did you input into the ADD area to get it to allow you to join? [&:]

According to the manual... when one clicks on the Multiplayer button, the multiplayer Client browser screen should be launched. When this happens it is automatically supposed to connect to the internet game broker service and download a list of recently active multiplayer servers. My client browser screen is supposed to proceed to ping each such server and retrieve performance and status information.

When I do this, the Client browser screen is blank, nada. [:(] No servers are displayed. [:(]

I launched the game..........had a problem rightoff as my shortcut goes to 5.00 version, not the 5.01 so i can't use it. When I hit programs>starshatter>starshatter the gatheringstorm(game menu)....same thing, launched 5.00version........so i go into the matrix>starshatter folder and click the "Stars"exe.........launches no problem. I selected multiplayer..hangon I forgot let me launch it again.

Launch game...loads..at first selection screen choose  "multiplayer"

Then hit "Local server" bottomright of screen

A dialouge-box opens for a default server? I leave all alone and select "ok"

Loads....and then "Fighter Thrash Pit" is one of 4 or 5 avaliable to select.

I selected Fighter Thrash Pit

selected myself and hit map then first mission avaliable I'm in a 6v6 multiplayer fighter duel,I'm in a F-36CStormhawlk........I didn't load it because I haven't done any flight-training yet..lol! But there was no problem getting that far for me and I have no real expertise yet.

Papi, as you know I can not join your server since I do not own the newest version of SS but I have several MP scenarios that I wrote that you are welcome to use. These were the same ones I was using on my server, some will have to be revised since some of the region names have changed but they will work.

wdboyd, you do not need to put anything into the "Add" area unless the server is private and in the case of Papi's it is set up as a public server so it will show up on the list and there is no need to do anything but select it from the list. My guess is that you are being prevented from joining due to your firewall, SSMP needs access to the internet your firewall is most likely blocking you. Are you using Windows firewall or an outside program to protect your computer? If you are using Windows Firewall go to Control Panel/Windows Firewall and select the exceptions tab, look for the starshatter executable in the list. Your best bet is to delete it and allow Windows to re-detect it when you try to start MP again, when the message pops up telling you that the games is trying to access the internet allow it to do so. If you are using another firewall program to protect your computer then make sure you shut down the Windows one as it can cause a conflict. PM me if you need further assistance.

Thanks Gordon.

I'll give your suggestion a try. But I have no problems connecting with other online simulations.

Gordon, no joy after trying your suggestion. I even tried it after completely turning off my windows firewall.

I still get absolutely no response upon reaching the Multiplayer Client screen. Puzzeling. [&:]

I made my own server.  Will keep it on as long as I can.
Version: 5.0.1
Name: AmeriServer
IP:192.168.0.104
Port: 111000

Heh.  Kardde, that's a local IP address on your home LAN.  You need to share an internet IP address to your router and have your router forward incoming connections to your computer at that IP address. ;-)

Also, port 111000?  Ports only go up to 65535... =/
