Well, not to defend Nik per se, but i don't think it was HIM who was responsible for the IJA OOB...

Petros,
Maybe you should have switched the allies to human control as well, leaving everything but Centpac on computer control, and then marshalled the USN for an offensive along the line Wake/Marcus/ Iwo/ Okinawa with a view to starting bombing with B24s. Then you could have had some very big carrier battles to make for a very interesting mini AAR.

Well, I am playing a new jap game now, and im on the 1st august 42 now. I just had a decisive battle against AI controlled 4 big US carriers. 2 TFs of 2, screened by a damn heavy AA escort of 3 old battleships and 2-4 cruisers each TF. They escorted a large convoy towards my forward base at Canton Island. On my side, I had a superior force of 3 carrier task forces (gathered at Kwajelein for a raid on pearl harbour and west coast), all screened by 2 CAs, 1 CS, and 10 destroyers. Kaga, Akagi, Junyo, Hiyo under Yamaguchi, Shokaku, Zuikaku, Hiryu, Soryu under Abe in second, and 3rd one with Ryujo, Shoho, Zuiho, Hosho, Unyo, Chuyo under Yamada. I annihilated the carriers and most escorts (confirmed 2 battleships, and 4 cruisers now, other battleships got amount of toprs not compatible with flotation...). Convoy was also dumped, I would guess about 30-40 APs/AKs sunk in 5 days bashing. I lost no ship, Kaga got one bomb (10 percent damage), Zuiho also 1 bomb (12 percent), and Shokaku 1 torp and one bomb (27 percent). Chokai also got a bomb, knocking out 1 8" turret. However, it costed me about 250 aircraft lost.. most of Vals and Kates are gone, especially on the large carriers....

I hope you had the full depiction on to watch that unfold.

Yeah, it was a very nice to watch to! However, now most carrier air groups (except Zeros, they lost quite few) have experience of 35-50 only.... Except a Group of Zuikaku which attacked carriers as last wave and lost only 2 kates and 3 vals... and one more of each in transport bashing.
