Turn 1 was pretty good for me, made good advance and managed to take out a decent percentage of the enemy units close to the border. However, turn 2 ended after first combat round and on turn three I set up my attacks for first combat round, and made sure only 20% of the turn would be burnt, hit the resolve button and ended up with 20% of turn left. Ignore losses attacks I guess....
However, turn 4 was sweet for me, as I managed to do quite a lot. Captured Riga and advanced towards Estonia, reached Minsk(pretty much surrounded, will fall next turn) made a lot of advance everywhere, breached the Stalin line and came within 15 hexes of Kiev. I managed to make a miracle breakthrough through the Pripet marshes and with some good luck I might catch a good amount of Soviet units retreating towards the Dnepr river.
My losses? Quite big about 5000 HRS so far. But you have to pay for succes.

You've lost 5000 HRS's in 2 turns?? that's a disaster!!
you've paid for using "ignore losses" quite heavily - the Axis should use "avoid losses" almost exclusively in these early moves - you have a massive shock advantage so you should use that and multiple rounds of combat do the work for you!

The german has to attack, Must take Important cities or they get screwed...
AND to take these they will lose critically important hrs! ouch.. no real way around this.. I beleive this is a little bit of a tough one for the German... must take Lenn and or the southern cities to get anything other than a "hold Berlin" till the end victory
How about hese for 1942 house rules?
G wins if he takes Moscow or Both Lenn and All the victory cities South ofthe Don and Stallingrad.. good luck K!

In 4 turns, and no that is far from disaster. Why?
1. I caused the soviets losses as well. Both in equiment and in units. Losing equipment is not as bad as losing units, Soviets losing units means that it is far easier for me to advance.
2. The German infantry regiments, that did most of the fighting, have 120 rifle squads assigned, while their 'maximum strenght' is 100. Meaning that they can lose those 20 and I don't need to worry, since it won't eat out my replacements.
3. What does it matter if I lose 2000 squads on turn 1, if my losses for the next ten turns are 100 a turn? The Soviets ain't counterattacking until the winter, and it's a long time away...agressive start and cautious but fast advance, that's my strategy. And because I wiped out so much of his forces on the border, I can advance more freely.
