When a top pilot is killed is he kept on the top pilots list with his status being changed to KIA? I know when a pilot is wounded his status goes to WIA but i wasnt sure if top pilots die if they are lost forever or if they stay on the list so long as they have enough kills to remain.

I finally found mine - Japanese 1LT P. Chuzaburo, 96 exp. flying a Nate, then Oscar, and currently a Tony in Burma.  He has 25 kills and is alive and well in 11 Fighter Sentai.  It's stock PBEM, 24 Dec 42.

This doesn't surprise me. I found most of Japans best generals commanding my ships in the Aelutians.

AVG are my "shock troops" in China and Burma.  I try to ambush the training missions.  So in fairness, they're mostly killing crappy pilots anyway.  I'm not willing to throw them against the Tonys yet, where there would likely be some nasty pairity.  I probably need to tho, as the Tonys are doing to my 4e bombers, what I've done to some of his training squadrons.

The RAF/RAAF pilots don't suck, but their range is limited, and thus limits their kills.

Do a print screen, open your favorite paint type program and paste. Then cut out what you want.

All, this is my first game, stock, full war scenario against AI.

AVG has over 1000 kills... Several Brit Sqns have over 300.

Oh yeah... I don't lie. [:-]

Cheers!

Campaign 42a - Stock

Image

As i posted before VF5 is no longer a viable unit. Last planes were lost when the CVE Rhode Island went down near gili-gili to an IJN sub. They were stationed there after the CV Yorktown was sunk near Tarawa covering an invasion force by IJN carriers.

Date is 11/28/42

Currently 258 Sq is in Kuala just South of Sabang on Sumatra. My Spearhead holding back hordes of enemy aircraft from Singapore and nearby bases. 60 Sq is in Mandalay doing ground attack on 60,000 IJA troops that are desperately trying to take it back.

I must be doing something screwy then, because in my first game I'm getting a lot more kills that that. I'm sure it's mostly because I'm playing against the AI, and they are stubbornly stupid. And I have it set on historical strength, while I'm sure most of you have it set much more difficult. I'm also running what I think is an older version, Version 1.60, so that might also have something to do with it. But here what I had as of 9/6/43:

Image

How it happened was essentially all Port Moresby. The Aussies in their Kittyhawks were there, and every day another air battle ensued. Some of the battle were at Gili Gili too, as I transferred the Kittyhawks there when things got hot. I'm not sure about the Spitfires. I know I had some of them at Lunga, which also was pretty active, but I might have had them at Port Moresby as well. I don't remember.

I remember looking at one time and the Japanese had over 2000 Bettys shot down. How many Bettys could they possible have had? I'd have thought that was more than their total production.

Edit: I lust looked at that more closely. The top guy, Poole, had 78 kills in only 66 missions. That's almost 1.2 kills a mission. None of the other screens posted are averaging anything remotely close to that rate, which really makes me think I did something screwy with this game. I shouldn't be that far off from everyone else. Are the old versions of the game far more deadly to pilots?
