Yes - what it drops is an evil psy-war cluster bomb. The bomblets are small speakers singing "I luv you. You luv me. We're a happy family." Surely it must be against the Geneva convention.

Well, taking out the turret on Conte di Cavour was surely nice. And the damage to Malta didn't get any worse (didn't get any better, either) - it's still at 0 airfield & 26 service damage.

My Malta airgroups are shredded, though. By all rights I should be pulling out, but the Hurris and Spits can only fly as far east as Barce and there's no aviation support there. A base force was already ordered to Barce and is 4 days away. I'll try to fight for at least one more day, though I can't say I'm hopeful.

Malta's still at 0 airfield damage but up to 34% service damage. I pulled out two squadrons that were down to 1 & 2 operational airframes each, but perversely I'm continuing to fight with the others.

The forces of purple annoyance have begun their march north from Agedabia.

Today's catch.....

2 fighters, in trade for two Italian makes.....not much else, AA got a Wimpy in NA.

With one day of relatively light attacks, Malta's airfield damage remains at 0 and the service damage has been repaired to 3. Supply levels are at 25K+, down about 1000 since the 2nd of January.

DD Hero, damaged yesterday, will make Alexandria safely tomorrow.

The 9th Indian Brigade didn't fare well, however. I knew it would only be a speedbump, but 31 to 1 odds were far worse than I expected. I'll have to make some more efforts to disrupt the Axis supply. I'm sure I could be winning easily if I had more bombers... And aviation support, infantry, armor and fighters... [:'(]

Been brushing up on my Med-war history. I think i'll be changing my mind about playing with advanced weather off. Seems that weather (bad weather that is) played a bigger part than one might think and often helped foil recon attempts out to sea.

Then there's the issue of the game engine's Pacific geared air-search engine....it's way too efficient for the Med. (pretty much everything gets spotted, and if it's spotted....it usually gets attacked by airpower.) In RL, the Italian airforce in particular had major problems coordinating it's actions with the Navy, partially due to doctrine and training but also because of the major inter-service rivalry between them. (There was also a wee little problem with ship identification which led to more than one friendly fire incident) People used to the Pacific (myself included admitedly) might be suprised at how closely warships and merchants operated to enemy territory. (example: warships assigned to Malta duty......the British fleet operating within 100 miles of Sicily etc) Airpower was a growing but usually sporadic factor in these sea maneuvers which increased the importance of carrier air power. In the game of course.....as can be seen in this and Speedy/Pauk's AAR, land based airpower has an ability to spot and target seaborne TF's with a regularity that would have made Benito drool. Hell, with just one squadron of Beuforts.....Chuck has been giving me palpitations as they attack my naval escort TF at least once per turn for the last 3-4 turns.....one torpedo could really ruin Barney's day. (So far only a couple bomb hits though these hits have destroyed weapons and are increasing wear SYS) On the same token, Chuck's Eastern Med squadron has also undergone several attacks and now his Force H (Gibralter) carrier force has also been spotted and attacked.

Pretty much the only way to reduce it is to play with advanced weather on so that some of the airbases involved get "socked" in.
