It's on the way. One or two personal problems have delayed it slightly but it is coming.
Cheers

Today I finally got set some time aside to work on the COTA Patch 3. From the beta testing we had nine bugs reported. Today I fixed four of them. I hope to get the rest knocked over next weekend and put out a new build.

I'm not sure I understand (sorry, I'm french). What's a patch build ? Not the patch I imagine because I cannot find it in downloads :-)

Salut lian,

I'm not sure I understand (sorry, I'm french). What's a patch build ? Not the patch I imagine because I cannot find it in downloads :-)

Je réponds dans les deux langues, car la question est technique et d'autres peuvent se poser la question.

Short answer in english below.

--

The patch build contains the executables of the patch : the game and all editors. The patch contains a bit more, with updated scenarios, config files, installer, etc. It's normal it cannot be found yet : Arjuna just delivered it to the testers only.

Cheers,

JeF.

Thanks for these informations JeF. So I don't have to worry about patch builds and wait for the patch itself :-)

Well yes and no. The testing has highlighted a number of problems. I have spent the weekend overhauling code that deals with the situation when a unit leaves the map ( either exits or is destroyed/disbanded ). It just wasn't comprehensive enough. Almost done now though.

Give arjuna a break, he's the man. I'm surprised there are only this many inquiring posts. 3 patch's in 2 years is great IMHO.

I havent realised that there was a need for a patch before this thread came up. I now however have a question on one of the improvements:
TT3304 - AI - Ensure Enemy Kills Total is factoring in Losses from Transport Columns

My Green Devils, will of course even with the patch as usuall get trapped behind enemy lines in some daring stunt to invade some small island. Does this mean that my own logistics chain slowly will give away victory points to the enemy by sending truckloads and donkeys of supplies into the arms of the enemy? They have a tendency to keep sending supplies even though the situation is hopeless.

...and is there any news on the Italian armour front. It feels like such a waste with all those vehicles that have been put into the game, but not in such a way that they can be used.

Arjuna gave me the green light to develop estabs to recreate most if not all italian forces in the Med theater through 1941. To do this right we also will include a new Italian vehicle and the estabs for it: the M11/39.

This should enable you guys to develop scenarios for North Africa from Graziani's 1940 offensive to Rommel's 1st battle for Tobruk.

Another UK vehicle and estabs is being introduced as well for the early war period. You're gonna have to try and guess this one.[;)]

[&o] ...couldnt get any better!
I will keep up my map making then, Beda Fomm is next up.
In late January 1941, the British learned that the Italians, fearing the British advance (Operation Compass) were evacuating Cyrenaica by way of Beda Fomm; The British 7th Armoured Division was dispatched to intercept the Italian army. Halfway to their destination, it was evident that the entire division together was too slow so a 'flying column' was sent on a direct route across the desert. On 5 February 1941, they arrived at the town to cut off the retreating remnants of the Italian Tenth Army. The following day, the Italians arrived and attacked, but failed to break through the blockade. For two days, 500 riflemen, a squadron of light tanks and a few field- and anti-tank guns held off 20,000 Italian soldiers with one hundred tanks and two hundred guns. The fighting was close and often hand-to-hand; at one point, a regimental sergeant major captured an Italian tank by hitting the commander over the head with a rifle-butt. The final effort came 7 February when 20 Italian Fiat M13/40 tanks broke through the thin cordon of riflemen and anti-tank guns only to be stopped by field guns, yards from regimental HQ.

There are many interesting battles involving the Italians, and of course alot of "what if" oppurtunities. Isnt there any italian that owns this game?

Rolls-Royce Armoured Car or its later version Fordson Armoured Car?

Plenty - best known is perhaps Vincenzo "Reckall" Beretta who IIRC wrote a review in an Italian magazine about the game.

Nope.

However, I'll gladly do the vehicles for the RRAC AND the Morris CS9 AND the estabs for 11th Hussars if you guys make it worth our while by making some good pre-'42 North Africa scenarios (including Beda Fomm).

Deal?
