Ok, so fill in the spaces between the pylons abaft the island with decking, then rotate the flight deck aft of the island say 5.5 degrees to port so the edge of the new deck area lines up with starboard edge of the original deck...

Actually RAdm. Dennis Campbell, RN, who passed away on 06 April 2000 at the age of 92, put it down to something simpler: “many self-inflicted near-misses and other close contacts with the Grim Reaper”
