Don't let your bucket of hot chips get cold there, Bungle. [;)] I expect the moderators will lock this one down before it gets too silly.

RE: will harpoonhq be updated?

Now that the official 3.8 patch is out will some of the scenarios available at harpoonhq be updated to work with 3.8?
To give MY OPINION on the original question;-
1) It depends partly on ANW being updated to run reliably with the silly bugs (sensor window, Sub ESM height mast, guns with infinite range, restricting sat orbit heights etc etc etc) bugs squashed. I have high hopes that 3.8.1 will deliver here. But I have seen no proof of this. I remain optimistic until proven otherwise.
2) It also depends partly on Ragnar wanting to modify DB2K to comply with 3.8 database requirements. Part of that is him getting the tools to do the job (no comment, and no, I haven't offered him my copy of DBEDIT) and partly on his inclination/motivation.
Mr Emsoy feels very upset over his treatment by AGSI over parts of his work being used without his authorisation by third parties, which remain unpunished and therefore CONDONED (in his opinion) by AGSI.
(That's my opinion of his opinion).
It is still technically possible for DB2K to become generally available for ANW users BUT bearing in mind the above, together with the sheer size of the work involved...
... don't hold your breath. It might happen, but there's a couple of issues to be addressed first.
The rest of you muppets throwing oil on the fire... why don't you go write your own databases instead of knocking other people's hard work?
Or at least get the DBEDIT so you can appreciate just how much work is involved in doing a database.
DB2K is not a finished work. It will require a lot of people helping by finding the bugs and inconsistencies in it, and telling Ragar (nicely) about it.
Try doing that instead of throwing crap at each other, eh?

Disruptive and disrespective? I was commenting on a comment that WAS off topic, I was not bashing. Contrary to what you may think I do not want to bitch and blabber but I will try and guard the topic at hand against useless comments only meant to bring the thread in the direction of a catfight, and you know from experience that is what is going to happen then. If you really think that deserves a warning then I guess this earns me the ban?
Now lets get back to the issue at hand.
Im gonna quote cuthbo2001 since he asked a good question that apparently got lost in the mix:

Can you tell me is there a plan to ever release the RE to the general public given that it is a more useful editor than the one open to the public at the moment.

Of course ..........I could just bide my time, watch em get lulled into a true sense of security, wait patiently for the same ol' ....then ...........suddenly...... [X(] presto watch the thread get knocked
after the sh*t has stained the drapes. Might go differently but its doubtfull. [8|]
just an observation of course, but the usual suspects ...............?

Another day same question. Will the RE be released to the public in the near future? maybe this is the wrong forum? Any suggestions where I can get an answer to this question?

At the same time there is a requirement for AGSI to have a master code that will unlock DBs that we wish to look at or use.
Care to explain? Looking at a database is fine.
Using other people's models without written permission is against the law in over 70 countries, including most of the developed world.

Well here is a suggestion, take it or leave it. Give us the tools to do as we please and let us fight it out. AGSI can take care of the game engine. It works with countless other programs and often means a rich and vibrant community

cuthbo2001,
But it didn't work in this specific case. AGSI got dragged kicking and screaming into the mess and the Harpoon community split into mulitple factions. Until such a time as PDB and DB2K have entered the wastebin of history, the community is unlikely ever again to be etiher as rich or as vibrant as it should be. And that is one crying shame...
Personally, I can't wait for HUD III. It should be fully compliant with ANW 3.8++ and will hopefully generate as much controversy as ... well, something that doesn't generate any controversy at all. [:)]
Best wishes,

I think most people are in one way or another but what is the relevance to this particular thread? I know you don't want that discussion once again so you might wanna consider not laying the bait for it

People might just bite at it.
Just a hint.
