I downloadeded it within in a day of release, played with it for a while and let it go until May of last year. I have been playing it nonstop since.

Soon as I could get it downloaded in July 2004, think it was the second. And I've been playing ever since. Bravo Zulu, Matrix!

Got my wife to download it at her work the day of release and have played nothing else since. At the time we only had dial up at home while she had broad band at work. All hail the Wife Unit Mk I!!![&o][&o][&o]

I think I got my copy back in late 04' or early 05', If you want to count PacWar then I can go back to my Atari 800XL in the 80's.

Mine was purchased the first day of release (at Origins). It took a few more days to reach my hands. It has never left my hard drive since, though I will admit that it took AB's map to really make me like it (I loved the system, having been hooked on UV, but the stock map with its Australian racetrack railsystem really turned me off).

Every now and then I have needed to take a week or two off (though PBEM has changed that), but considering the fact that I used to purchase 10-15 games per year before WITP and I have only purchased about five games since its release - you can see just how much of my time it takes up.

Bravo Zulu? There was a time that “Bravo Zulu” was standard code for a type of tactical chemical weapon. This particular type of chemical agent would cause hallucinations, thus rendering the effected troops ineffective-if still somewhat delighted. [:D]

Is this a Freudian slip? Or am I forgetting another common use of Bravo Zulu.

Having much experiance with war games and understanding how they are generally released full of bugs now a days (heck since I played "North Altantic 86", back in 84 on the ol' Apple 2e); I decide to wait till Christmas 05 to make this one of my presents.

I enjoyed Pac War so much I didn't want to jade myself by buying WiTP too early and I think I waited the right amount of time as I've not purchased a single game since then.

I don't have the time to reliably commit to PBEM so I have put my efforts into modding the Japanese so they stand a chance when I'm the Allies, while trying to retain the "flavor" of the Pacific War.

Feinder and I started out also when it first came out.  I think we also started the first TEAM game out there against multiple opponents (or at least that was mentioned on the forums).  That game is still going on btw against Ltfighter and Kbullard.

Download 2 days after it came out. Except for being shelved for a few weeks for SPWAW I have played non stop ever since.

I played UV since the day it came out then switched to WiTP. It's not the only game I play, but it's been on my HD since it came out. Been through a computer swap and a couple job changes.

I even played PacWar some though it was the Matrix release, not the original. I'm not the student of the Pacific War that most here are. I've always been a bigger fan of the European theatre, with an emphasis on German armor and aircraft.

But I've yet to find a game that so captivates me like Witp.

Thanks for the info-never learned the Navy Way.

Had to check in on this.  Bought it when released, within a week or two.  It has never left my hard drive, but I've put it down numerous times because of bugs, life, etc.  I've tried my hand at pbem, but frankly it goes a bit too slow for me that way.  I wish the AI were a bit better in solitaire, but its still fascinating.  I'm playing out a scenario I started a year ago.  Trying to invade Japan from Alaska.  Not very sound, obviously, but it's providing an interesting challenge.

Purchased at Origins and have been playing since. Good to see you again Titanwarrior89. Our game which lasted until near the end of 1943 is still my longest PBEM. My current PBEM is in January 1943. I think that the only thing that will end my playing of the game is when I'm forced to run an operating system that it won't run on. Hopefully a long time from now...

I've been thinking of stockpiling computer parts to keep a WITP compatible system going as long as I do...

I did buy a laptop so that I could take WITP on the road. [8|]

Had all versions 1.00-1.806 on my machine(s) from 1-Jul-04.. and some gaming in between.. [:)]

Picked up UV for a few quid off e-bay and found this forum. Bought WITP soon after but took me about 6 months to get into it (was put off by the size plus I had plenty of UV PBEMs ongoing).

Since my last UV game finished I have concentrated on WITP. Still like to play 1st person shooters such as the Call of Duty series.
