I'm allies, its summer 1941 (aginst human player). Axis are on gates on Moscow with a wall of motorized and armour units. I understand that he will run out oil and manpower soon, but then the Soviets will be DONE! and then it wo'nt matter anymore!! oh yes, I have counted at least 4 friggin fighters in the west to check any allied air effort.
If the axis player does not have to repeat any historical mistakes before attacking russia (balkan campaign etc), why the hell does the Soviets have too!!!
Add mud, free setup, limited movement, whatever.......

I still got loads of Oil .. manpower will be an issue in early 42 ..
Italy has huge manpower .. so Italian Corps ..
5 Ftrs in France .. Even the Rumanian is there .. all full strength ..
Labs will pay off in winter 41 .. giving me a place to spend PP ..
Germany pp per turn 135 .. Italy 32 pp per turn .. [:D]
and Ind lab will be here well before winter 41 .. for both Axis ..
All Air 1st level upgrades in winter 41 .. 2 or 3 turns ..
Graziani is commanding an Italian Army Group in the Don .. 12 corps .. Add in the upgraded Rum, Hun and Bul Corps .. this is a huge force .. back em up w 2 each Mot and Arm .. [:)]
There is no politaical issue with taking out Spain .. or Turkey for that matter I guess ..
Wait until I attack Turkey next game I play and open up the Black to the Italians .. Invasions in the Cacucas .. [X(]
Spain = 11 or so pp per turn .. Use lots of Inf and Manstein ..
This and the other conquered minors provide huge pp for Germany ..
I really think the Allies have a very difficult time even delaying an Aggressive Axis player .. [8|]

I have asked and asked for one person to say I have won verses a real human playing the Allies. So far not one person has said they won.
Oil?
Where was oil in all this?
-
In no game have I seen oil or manpower be important. My first game verses AI I almost ran out of oil. Quickly learned most tank and air movement must be by train that solved that problem never have I been below 300 oil since.
Personnel have never been a shortage for me.
Most of my games ended 43/44 when the Russians surrecndered.
The Axis laugh as the weather changes since the effects on the Soviets are almost as bad as the Germans. Since the Soviets at that point are green or broken morale that small drop allows the elite battle hardened Germans to finish Moscow and begin the long move to Perm to finish the thing for them.
I am presently in a game where the Allied player has held very well until March 42 suddenly his Soviet army is falling apart. Same problem I have seen in each game. I actually thought this man could be the first Allied Victory but after last turn I really doubt it. Soviets with those mythical reinforcements just have no battle hardened troops to defend mother Russia in 42. I still remain hopefully he can muster some Russians to show me I am wrong but his corps are starting to disappear instead of get stronger.

Yohan - if perhaps you took 2 seconds to read the rules you would see that when you invade (and don't have a city) just place a naval unit (CV, BB or DD) adjacent to the land and you will get sea supply (it is low, but there you have it).
>> Does not happen, even with naval adjacent they are out of supply
have you checked there supply status, or are you seeing the low supply icon and figure they are out of supply ?

Quesion: Is Vypuero the scenario designer or part of the Commander team? If so, his post above was rather out of school.
There is a rumble he is and I would appreciate clarification. If you are, and can't take the heat for designing an extremely poor Russian setup, then get off the boards.
Rumble is IDG is handing you your butt in the game you are playing.

I designed the scenarios. I have to work within the framework of what the designers want to do, so of course I have to make compromises. I am not part of the company, or anything like that. I will play you, I am having fun playing IDG so far but it is very much at the start I would say. I wish him well, I like a challenging opponent.
In any case I don't think the setup is poor for Russia - in fact it is very hard to get as far as the Axis did in 41-42. It is hard to try to duplicate the massive way the Russians were able to recover from such losses without exceptions, which the game designers did not wish to use. We are adjusting it again - but in the game I am playing now, I do have Moscow, but in the Ukraine the Russians are advancing relentlessly so a complete Russian collapse is unlikely against a human.
As to your Benelux comments I don't get it - the low countries were overrun quickly and France fell to Blitzkrieg quickly as well. How is this a problem?

Can't argue with on your points Yohan, one can only hope someone is listening and addresses these issues pronto, if not, the playablity factor will be very limited for those of us who just want a long well played campaign.
My lasted opposition took out Holland in Oct-Nov 39! and coasted from there. Its know sep 40 and Spain will fall shortly. God help Russia in 1941.
I can argue with those points. For example: PBEM. You can just change the name in windows. What's the big deal? If grognards are the ones who supposedly don't like this game, why all the petty technical complaints? I've played war games since the 1960s and this is a perfectly good game.
Don't take much to please and impress you then does it? lol
