One of the strengths with our strategic AI is that it does not use scenario specific scripting - ie a instructions tied to the particular scenario - eg advance down route A. Rather it generically analyses the situation presented to it and based on the objectives set in the ScenMaker determines its best course of action. So if the circumstances change, such as there are more enemy at location X than Y, then it may decide to bypass X in favour of Y. On the other hand if the commander in question is very Gung Ho he may prefer to take on X. So as the situation changes so too does the enemy AI's plan. That's why one replay of the same scenario can pan out so differently.
