Thanks for the bump, junk2drive. Unfortunately, the link to 1.02 now only has the 1.03 update. Bummer [&:]. Or am I missing something? The link to 1.02b seems fine but I think you have to have 1.02 installed first.

i did bring up the fact there has been 3 updates (user temp) updates in a month with the official not till later a 4th. Now with all these tempry fixes the question I have is what is going to be a:
permanent fix for the Vista bugs?
Display issues that stay with the desktop when a CTD happens (Olive Drab most of the time)
A memory issue that deal with the Conventional mem not ram?
the ever present lack of DCG support?
The disappearing ICONS on a 2d map when scrolling?
Phantom Arrows that stay with the display when the game ends a turn?
The armor facing issues when going against mortars?
the default menu on startup that will not freeze your machine when clicking update?
the gleaning out of unnecessary files that the program does not or never will use?
the map editor when choosing from inside the main program page?
the flashing white blocks on the screen with the editor?
the OOB's that lock up the OOB Editor particulary the russian, if it is in 1.03 then this fix will not happen for me because then the main, platoon and weapons files are encrytped, thus forcing me as a consume to stay where I am
these are just some of the issues
I hope they get addressed for the 1.02b version without the chokepoint of submitting units for incorporation

Vista issues are most probably the fault of Vista not the game itself, did you try to add the missing DirectX 9 dlls? Vista ships with DirectX 10 that is not 100% compatible with the previous version, often manually adding DX9 dlls fixes compatibility problems.

yesd i did and still it gives me the crash...you kind of like the old crash with rising sun and caves issues. There may be a stack over flow problem in conjunction with the displa of the game

I did list a plethera of problems in the general forum tech support forum....do you know if the display issue are due to direct x or Open GL?
