That's odd.  Gotta try that tonight.
An example.....[:)][:)][:)]
1. Transport TF w/ Tankers (with fuel)
2. SC TF low on fuel
3. Refueled SC TF from Transport TF
4. 2 Tankers are lower in fuel after fueling the SC TF.

That's interesting. Try the same thing with a cargo TF with AKs hauling anything except fuel. It'll still work, but the fuel comes out of the AKs fuel.

Correct - I refuel subs the same way if they don't need torps....AK in the area, sub meets AK in the middle of the ocean and bam - sub refueled without going to a distant port.....[:)]

You have to set transport TFs to "do not refuel", otherwise they will suck up your fuel as fast as you unload it.

One of the major annoyances of this game is that the default mode of all TFs is "refueling OK". This, to help the imbecile AI, I expect.

Actually what it does is kick the forgetful player in the nuts. It only takes one big convoy arriving at a forward base set with "refueling OK" to wreck an otherwise well-planned offensive.

I think this is a bug...I'm pretty sure that the game design is supposed to only let AO's replenish from fuel stores.

I don't consider it a bug.....I think that a ported TF could refuel from a ported Transport TF with tankers in it......why unload the fuel into the port and then have it reloaded to a TF at the port.....?

Destroyer's escorting a AK supply TF gets refueled at sea automatically at some point during a long trip from fuel laden AKs.....

Another option would be that transport task forces only refuel at their destination if they cannot make it back to their home base with their current fuel load. That way they would only refuel at their home base (which is likely to be a major port) and not suck dry their destination bases.

Do you think that would work??

This is SOP for me. When I create a new transport TF, first thing I do is set to "do not unload, do not refuel". APs and AKs generally have enough fuel to get anyplace and back. If the escorts need fuel, they will refuel at sea from the transports regardless of "do not refuel", which only effects refueling from ports.
