Remember you can customize this game.

In my current game I have it set so most of the time you kickoff after kicking an extra point.

So what are you doing the rest of the time?

With the exception of the shootout overtime, I think most of the rules are there. Was there something specific you were looking to see?

The shootout overtime and the clock stopping after a first down would be great.

I haven't gotten into customizing too much, but is there an option where you can set it to NCAA rules that when your player's knee hits the field, he is ruled down and the play is over? Thanks.

David,

Any chance you'll be able to put in these options in a future release of Maximum Football? Thanks.

Hi.

The game does not have the amateur rule for 'down by knee' (we had the same rule when I played high school ball). This is mostly because the animation for a player tackle and the code that determines if a player is tackled are not connected in that way. If a player is tackled (as determined by code), the game runs a tackle animation. It's a reactionary system (which has pros and cons) that would make determining a tackle by animation quite difficult.

The overtime shootout and other rules are things I'm looking at.

thanks
David

Huh -
What do you mean amateur rule?
"Down by "knee". Are you refering to the "Down by Contact Rule" ?

I think he means that in US high school and colleges if the player with the ball has his knee touch the ground, the ball is dead.  He does not have to have been touched by a defensive player.  In the US pro rules a player can fall down and get back up and run with the ball, unless the hit the ground because of contact.

example: In a high school game if the ball is snapped to the punter, he drops it and as he goes to pick the ball up his knee hits the ground, the ball is dead play over.

NCAA Rule 4 Section 1: Article 3 Ball Declared Dead

b. When any part of the runner's body, except his hand and foot, touches the ground or when the runner is tackled or otherwise falls and loses possession of the ball as he contacts the ground with any part of his body, except the hand or foot.

In the NFL, a player must be touched (down by contact), In the NCAA and high school, a player is down when anything but the hand or foot touches the ground regardless of contact.

An NFL player can make a diving catch at the two yard line and then roll into the endzone if not touched. An NCAA player would be down at the two yard line.

To me this is no big deal. Currently I think the way MFB handles it is a good compromise, the guy is tackled and he is down. We don't see any diving catches in MFB, etc.

OK - I know the rule - not sure I ever heard it expressed that way.

One big thing needed for us college fans is the Option Play to a Back, including Receivers.

Yes.

David,

If you could, please do some option plays in the next update. That would be great. Thanks.

The option play is something I'm working on for the next version of the game but I would not expect it to be part of a version 2 update.

thanks
David
