Hi Guys

I am in Australia.  Will send Nomad an email as ascertain how he wishes to split the Japanese forces.  I have been called in to work New Years Eve so not quite as much free time as I hoped.

With this being a team game how about we do 2 day turns?

Any suggestions on house rules?  We tests ing the scenario to break it or play it?  (Play it I hope)

Hi Darken92,

Testing it's playability not to break the game. Mostly to see how playable it is and to check for anything I may have missed. Hopefully this will be a good way to pass some time until AE comes out.

By 2 day turns do you mean the four of us accomplishing a turn every two days or setting the turn increment to two days per turn? The former sounds fine to me. The latter I'm not sure about. I usually play one turn = 1 day just to have more control over my forces on a day to day basis. However, I'll defer to whatever day/turn rate everyone else wants to play at.

House rules. My suggestions:

1) Japanese don't go after Allied carriers on turn 1.
2) Japanese forces in Manchukuo must change to China Expeditionary command to move into China.

As for 4Es, Japanese have the Liz and Amelia (Me-264) in this scenario and will have to change 2E to 4E in order to use them, so I would suggest no rules restricting use on 4Es for either side.

I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Anyone else have any to add?

Oh yes, and settings...

WitP version 1.806

My suggested settings:

Both Sub Doctrines: OFF
Fog of War: ON
Advanced Weather: ON
Allied Damage Control: ON
Historical First Turn: OFF
PDUs: ON
Vary Setup: OFF
Dec 7th Surprise: ON
Reinforcements: Both Variable by 15 days
Auto Sub Ops: OFF
Facilities to expand: OFF
Auto Air Upgrades: OFF
Accept Replacements: OFF

PLUS a couple more house rules, mostly for turn 1:

Allies can only move TFs at sea on turn 1.
Allies may not change air group locations on turn 1.
Soviets may not move or form TFs at all until Soviets are activated. ie. Soviet Navy cannot be used to "scout".

Allies may...
Set LCU planning points on turn 1
Set LCUs to move on turn 1, however, not into Japanese territory.

Sounds fine.  Suggested House rules
 1. No 4-engine bomber under 15,000 feet, except for ASW / Naval Search missions or Strategic Bombing missions
2. LCU's belonging to the Kwangtung Command may not leave Manchuria unless PP's are spent to change their command. In general players should always attempt to change the command of units to the theatre of operations they are in, not just Kwangtung.
3. No more then 50 aircraft per level of airfield. (not counting float planes/amphibs)
4. Play a "gentleman's game". If you think it might be gamey, it probably is, so don't do it.  With the large ammount of PP's available how about we trial the idea that you need to change command if possible? I was suggesting two days per turn just to speed up play but as this is a trial one day turns should be just as good. When I get home in the morning I will send Nomad the turn.

These sound good to me. [:)]

I'll start a general AAR which we can all equally post to just as a means of communicating whatever we think of the game as it develops. I'd like to keep reactions, ideas for improvement, etc. open to the forum.
