Early August 1861

Military orders: East

I am going to reorganize my forces in Richmond instead of Petersburg. It has a hospital and doesn’t border any swamp regions (+25% to disease casualties).
It is quite dangerous to have this many troops gathered in just one province, but I will split them after the reorganization is done. I also buy medical corps for three brigades, to reduce disease looses (-20% looses to disease for all brigades in the group they are attached to. Also -20% casualties taken in battle and 20% reduction to damage in sieges).

I am planning to build another army and corps, which will be sent towards Wheeling to harass the union here. But as Richmond is the only region where I can build corps and armies, it is going to take some time before they are ready for action.

In the mean time I will build a hospital in Lynchburg, as I want to retreat my A.N.V here, when the union advance to Richmond (I know I said Petersburg before, but the swamps nearby made me change my mind). Robert E. Lee is also put in charge as army commander, while T.J Jackson will be promoted to 3 stars and lead the corps.

I am also sending Magruder to Lynchburg with my worst division, where he will create a force of garrison troops. I have to spread out my forces a little, or else I will suffer terrible from disease.
I am also going to need another division for all these garrison troops. They are running dangerously low on supply while they are outside a group (+1 to supply cost).

Lorring (good tactics) and Early (great tactics) are put in charge of my fort defences in Richmond.

Western theatre (Group overview):

Military orders: West

The union army has retreated to St. Louis, giving me a great opportunity to take Cairo. So I will move on the offensive here, ordering all my forces to The Central Mississippi river.
I will however first buy a medical attribute for three of my brigades and also another artillery brigade for my 47th infantry. This will transform it into an artillery unit next turn, which I need for the coming siege.

As in the eastern theatre I need a corps here, but as it has to be built in Richmond, it will take some time before it is available.

I also promote Hardee to division commander.

Strategic orders

Infrastructure/Recruitment/Arms

With the many medical corps I have bought, there is a shortage of money and horses. But still enough to buy a few things:

Hospital in Lynchburg
Laboratory in Raleigh
Corps in Richmond
Division in Norfolk

Runners:

1st Runner: Mid-Atlantic, 20 weapons (70S, 20D)
2nd Runner: New York Atlantic, 40 Labour (60S, 20D)

Requisitions:

There aren’t really any decent impressment’s changes, so no orders here.

Diplomacy:

No spending here.

Supply:

As you can see below supply upkeep are really beginning to cut deep in my wallet.

Battle of central Mississippi river

The small garrison brigade located here, were reinforced from the main union army in the west. So it developed into quite a large battle, but thanks to their low morale and spread out forces, I was able to defeat them quite easily.

Another great turn for the Confederacy. The only concern are the blockade runner which got caught and damaged. I also lost some support from Europe, but I can win that back later in the game.

That is one of the union tactics is to send a smaller unit into a province then call for reinforcements. The begining will to fight does not change and that can be a disavantage. But if you have a small unit that may outnumber the enemy but suddenly thier are a horde of union troops comming at you. You have to hit the V button ocassionly to see if the union is reinforcing heavly.

Ok, I didnt knew that. I have only played a few turns before as either side, so the AI strategies are quite unfamilliar to me. But this time I want to play it to the end. I reread the manual and readme for the latest patches, and took notes of all these small things that I didnt notice first time I read it. I never noticed there was something called fort commanders for example.
The supply report is also working now, though I am still learning how to use it. I just take notice of where my reinforcements go mostly. And medical corps are probaply one of the best attributes that exist as you said. I would have liked to buy some the first turn for my army in Fredericksburg, if that was possible. But Hasn’t disease casualties been increased with the latest patches? I never noticed these great losses first time I played?

I am not going to finish this game, as I have just formatted my hard drive without making a backup of my saves I actually thought I had installed the game on my external drive, so I never gave it a thought. But now I know how dumb I was
At least I only got to the third turn, so it’s not a complete disaster. I might give it another shot in a few days, as I really want to try and beat these Yankees!!

Yeah, and I enjoy the confederate AAR's, and you don't find much of them.
