@freeboy,
you can see the rules details when selecting attack participators and when you hold mouse over stack points of hex.
kind regards,
Vic

Also, I have seen on the forums discussion of units having different numbers of attacks with different strengths. Where can I find this information?
What about this? [;)] Sorry for all the questions.

the attacker's density is a function of the linear space generated by the number of hexsides attacked through, and allowing for the density of the attacking units to be evenly distributed within this space
Is it from the math textbook ? Attacker's density is the differential form on the tangent bundle of the hex manifold. Mwahahaha.

And you all scoffed when your Math Teacher in High School told you Algebra would be used by you through out your life.

these numbwers seem way off for scenarios like waw and other large ones.
WAY OFF

From all this I gather that it would be a bad idea to have any formation with more than 100 stack points, which doesn't seem like much, especially, as freeboy says, in large scenarios, when you want large formations.
Another question (everyone here is so helpful!, gush gush [&o]). Is there any kind of command you can give through HQ's, to their subordinate units? The one that springs to mind is 'regroup' which would mean all units attached to that HQ would automatically move to where it is, if possible. It would be a handy one for the end of a successful operation in a particular theatre. When the fighting is over, you can just order the HQ to regroup, leave them for a few turns, and then reorganise for the next operation. Just a thought.

Not sure in game how you look at the info but in the editor you look at the Sub Unit and it has that information on one of the headers on how that unit works. Perhaps you can see it from the left side with the graph command, haven't looked at all those options.

Just click on the subformation and it will display for you all the stats for that type unit, including max number of attacks and number of attacks the unit makes.

my head hurts after reading this.
all this math is hard on a old man.
being a military man ill continue to use the priciple of more is better.
as in......
it was a hell of a battle sir. 40 to 2 and we killed em both !!!!!!!

Air attacks and naval battles ignore these stacking limits, correct?

Correct. They also don't get HQ bounses.

"More is better"
Well, not quite. Vic specifically made this so to prevent the use of Überstacks, a killer unit made of 10 heavy tanks and 100 inf. units. Unstoppable in gameplay, and also ruining it. And also reflecting real life situations where too many units just overcrowd the place, not much use for your units when they are still stuck in some traffic jam aren't they?
So, more is better, till a certain point that is.

It's easy enough to memorize how much Stack the different sftypes take up in the Generic game.

I still don't know what stack point is, is it the weight of the unit?

The weight of the unit is different than the stack points of a unit.
Weight is used when you need to move a unit by strategic movement or by ship.
Stack points are per SFType and represent how big the SFType is in the hex. So a unit's stack points is the total of all the SFTypes in that unit. They are used only to determine if there is crowding during battles. When defending if there is more than 100, default game, stack points in a hex the defender will suffer from crowding. If there are 100 stack points attack from a single hex then the attacker suffers from crowding. For multihex attacks it's 100 +50 per extra hex side... I think.
Both stack points and weight are show in the info box, on the lower edge of the screen, when a unit is selected.
