now that i think about it, i believe that Haruna did indeed take a fish or 2, but im not sure

Also, i made a mistake at Midway and Wake, by evacuating Wake i took away my long range spotting that i had with the Coronados i based there, but, i felt that itd be better to evac now, and come back with a better force, than to lose the whole force, and at the same time reinforce midway

unfortunately this means that Wake is probably out of my hands for now, and it would have indeed been very valuable, but, if i lose my carriers, he may try and take hawaii, as indeed i was going to with dennishe.

dennishe believes i was going for the west coast, but wat i was really doing was making it APPEAR, that i was going for the west coast, in case sum1 that dislikes me was feeding him intel, so that he would split his forces between the west coast and try to defend both, weakening hawaii, and as someone once said, he who defends everything, defends nothing. and i would have had a truly massive force behind heavy forts and multiple mutually supporting airfields defending Hawaii once it fell, and it would have been damn near impossible to drive me out, even with the USN Death Star and the Marines, depriving him of a major base and prolonging the war at LEAST a year or 2, upon which time, with a boosted KB and many resources and further troops, since China was beginnging to collapse, and i couldve destroyed him and won the war on my terms.

anyway, KB is of course there at midway, not sure how many carriers, but theres at least 2 maybe 3, no real way to know, recon isnt being very helpful. Bruno is apparently following the fleet in being concept, making me wonder where his carriers are, so any deployment of my carriers comes with the risk of running into them

however they could just as easily be in tokyo bay and their crews at a geisha house, drinkin sake [:D]

seeking a carrier battle would only succeed after attrition, or if i simply got lucky, and either way i probably wouldnt break even, and the loss of any one carrier will hurt me more than him, but losing any carriers will give me a shiny new Essex as replacement, but still, losing 2 or maybe 3 carriers to kill 1 Imperial and hurt a couple others isnt a good trade

though, if i set the fighters to full CAP and sent in the bombers without escort, some of them might make it, and maybe take one or two of his out of the war, but then they might not, but when his strikes got to me, hed run into a couple hundred wildcats and hed be sure to lose a few dozen to them, and maybe a dozen more to all the flak ive centered around my carriers. in which case KB would be a white elephant, a scorpion without a stinger.

in my book its always better to lose planes and pilots than the carriers themselves, cuz u can always get more pilots, albeit lower quality, but u cant always get more carriers. this is especially true for the USN, since the carrier force will be a moster someday, and the pure raw numbers of planes ill be able to bring to bear will prevail against the smaller numbers of unarmored Imperial planes. for me this is a given, since im Allies, but for him, its a deathtrap, since japan will only manage to put about 10 more carriers in the water, and ill be putting 20+ in the water, and ill have better planes, so this is a strategy thats deadly for him, but it would still carry a cost for me in ships and pilots, but still hed take losses he simply cant afford.

though i assume, and its a given assumption, that he will cancel Shinano and pump up hs HI as much as he can to get the Unryus and other carriers into the water

he may try to keep KB intact and sharp and razor-like, as in the Honda-Raver game, or he may try to come at me and destroy PacFlts carriers, as Yamamoto historically tried to, but was beaten at his own game, and as i actually succeeded with dennishe

but hed be taking the risk of losing a carrier, or 2 or 3, and theyd certainly be damaged.

but then thats the deadly trap of assuming wat he WILL do, rather than wat he CAN do

going on that, he CAN come at Pearl harbor again, he CAN wipe out my carriers if hes careful, so i shall make that harder for him...

so, the torp bombers slowed her down and made her bleed and take on water, and the bomb mustve slowed her down, and down she went to Davy Jones Locker

You are right, I was believing that you were going for the West Coast. This means that my defenses at PH were not optimal, but definitively not weak. I would have 2 or 3 divisions at PH (still had 4 divisions there when we stopped the game). You could have taken it, but it would have costed you time.
 
When in this masterplan of yours were you planning to take the resource centers in the DEI?????
I don't give a damn about losing PH if I can hold the DEI. In our game I fortified Java with 3 additional divisions (2 from OZ and the 18th UK division) and with a 4th division as a floating reserve (2nd UK). Further I had an aviation regiment, lots of planes and enough supplies to support these troops for a year. It would have costed you months to drive me out of Java and I don't think you would have had enough resources and oil to cover big operations into the fall of 1942. In fact, I think you would have lost the war by the end of the year, even if you would have taken PH ......

so i was going to secure sumatra and borneo, along with the celebes, and get u in a crossfire, and i wouldve had a decent amount of resources, and i wouldve made it very hard indeed for u to supply, reinforce, or evacuate

It looks as though Bruno is going for Midway.

recon has spotted multiple AKs and PCs West of Midway, heading 090

also, the battleforce that sunk the PTs is still there, and NE of Midway is the carrier force

since im not sure how many flattops hes brought with him, ill not try and pull a  Midway, ala Admiral Nimitz. ill not sacrifice 3 carriers and their escorts for Midway

and unbeknownst to Bruno, there are 10000 troops on Midway, including 3 USMC CD bn's

also im transporting ave support to the island, and ive sent 16 SBDs there as well, to supplement the 2 B17 groups there, and Midway is HEAVILY mined, with at least 400 there, strange however that the battleforce hasnt struck any

Also, in case hes making another Pearl raid, ive put all aircraft on max alert and all bombers and patrol planes on 100% search to max range, and all fighters on 100% CAP

ill probably lose alot of them, but theres at least 70 fighters tjhere, it should at least make a dent, and i may give Pearl the carriers fighters, and keep them in dock

certainly 3 or 400 concentrated fighters can stop KB...
