hum, what do u think the above was about? lets see, guess number one?
1. how long does it take to print a manual?
2. How long does it take to go from gold to released state?
3. how long does it take for M to realize this is Stuppid?

I would guess that the manual is being printed by a 3rd party, so the timescale is not 100% under Matrix's control. In the interim, we will get better/more/improved stuff when the game does ship. Erik has explained how the process will work in future, with the manuals going to print earlier in the process. While I am as keen as anyone to see this game ship, I fail to understand what your problem is with the current situation.... We get more stuff [:)]

well, to counter the better bigger differnent excuss,
Why not release the game in october when it was done, or whenever .. then give us a manual next june when it is actually printed, and then " better" we could have patches..
of course there is always the " we are doing the best we can" excuse... and to that one we just shrug and comment, " if the shoe fits"
It always surprises me when companies actually let us know stuff is ready exceipt for something out of their control. Makes one wonder, at least for me. Perhaps those folks who where so upset that games where released without the ability to get manuals till a later date are happy, "misery loves company?" But again, the reasoning behind allowing us to know is what I chuckle at. I am sure that in hind site we would all change choices we have made, and allowing us as the customer base to know the game is ready but will not be sold due to Matrix choice.. is, well pretty lame.

They aren't sitting on their hands. New stuff has been added since the game was 'ready'. I know of no other game with this feature. I don't want to spoil the surprise so I'll say no more.[:D]
For me, I'm building a mod vehicle, the Brummbar. Should be ready in 2-3 weeks.

Mobius, does it have something to do with modding?

Having purchased Medieval II: Total War and also having been stupid enough to purchase Kingdoms as well, I am very happy to wait for a company to provide a finished product. It is refreshing to see a games company *not* rush a game to market. I am sure that Matrix want to start generating income as soon as possible, and the delay has not been created purely to spite you.

No.
That I'm building a model means I'm not testing any more and not involved with the new *thing*.

Dude, the game was able to be released awhile ago, Erik, Staff member said they where waiting on a printed manual.. hello? did u read this?[:-]

Indeed I did read this and, as I work for a software company and spend a lot of time bug-hunting, I know just how much improvement can be made to a product that is 'ready for release'. If the delay (that we can do nothing about) permits Matrix to either add to or 'tighten up' the product, then I am all for it.
As this is pretty much what I said in my first post on the subject, I wonder if you read that? [:)]
And it's 'printed' [:)]

I'm going to make one more guess and then drop it as the release is so close:
-Network Multiplayer (as opposed to PBEM)
What say you, Erik? (I see you lurking in the thread [;)])
Please? As one Erik to another?

Nope, not that. Mobius got a bit excited - it's an exciting feature, but it has been (in some form) present in tactical games before just not in 3D tactical games, to my knowledge. This is also a better version of it than I've seen before. This was actually on the long-term wish list and I didn't think it would make this release. We're still working on it, so I don't want to get into details yet because getting it completed and polished will be right down to the wire for the release.
Regards,
- Erik

Bigger Than a ammobox, smaller than a Brummbar.
Maybe only another week for this.
