IMO nothing beats the enjoyment of Their Finest Hour, an early PC version of Battle of Britain done by Lucas Games that came out in 1989!!!  That game let you plan the strategic bombing, and fly into the battle, your direct mission's outcome had an effect on the other "planned" battles.  WHile Rowan's version does some of this, I still think the Lucas Games version of the epic battle is still far superior, and given the age of the graphics, and all the major improvements in technology, it still holds the test of time.  Man, if someone would just re-make that one... it was so simple to get a game going...

Well, I vaguely remember Their Finest Hour...but from yur synopsis, it is BoB2.

You can simply formulate your strategy and play it day to day as the RAF or Luftwaffe commander, or you can jump in anytime (and I mean anytime) and fly...from take off, to landing and anywhere in between...just select a unit on the map and click the Frag button, select your pilot and plane and off you go.

Thanks for jogging my memory geozero. I've been wracking my brain trying to remember the name of that game (Their Finest Hour) trying to decide if this was the second edition of that one. I remember that game as being the most fun to fly of any WWII flight sim I've owned. I don't remember it having quite the strategic element that BoBII seems to have but it was a blast to play. I've wished I could install and run it again many times over the years but 5 1/4" floppies don't fit in any of my newer machines [:D]

I still have that game and the followup "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe" in their original (mint condition) boxes. Remember the write protection back then was a wheel that you spinned to answer the screen question (something about the squadron name or something). Anyway...I could swear I have that on 3.5" floppies. I'll check it out. [:D]
