FWIW I have an old copy of Spartan lying around and re-installed it the other day and enjoyed too many hours with it. The odd thing was that I didn't even have to go through the d3drm step. Wonder if another program installed it? Point being is it works great in Vista! Also in full disclosure, it was actually not a matrix version but a box set from a long time ago (forget the distributor name - sorry Matrix, it was a gift!!).
