I've not had much luck using the autoconvoy process, but I do use the computer controlled supply system where a convoy will cycle between two bases until you tell it to stop. I create several big convoys on the West Coast, order them to load supplies (or fuel), give them a destination like Pearl Harbor or Luganville, and then hit the "player control" toggle. The convoy will run to the destination, unload, return to the West Coast and repeat the process.
That would certainly simplify the resource movement a bit, might have to try that myself.
The CS (continuous supply) method works very well. I like to make these types of TF as "cargo or tanker" instead of "transport" so that I can see at a glance which TF should be on CS. Still check them from time to time, because every once in a while a TF I thought was on CS is suddenly not. Could be something I did, though.[:-]

If you run the cursor over the TF, I believe it gives you different information if it is CS than if it is a routine convoy. IIRC the general information specifies both ends of the route and may say "CS" so you don't have to click on the TF itself...

That begs the question - Will AE allow the "CS" Task Forces to run Oil and Resources as well as Fuel and Supplies? If so, that almost eliminates the need for auto-convoy.

Right now I have to handle that by loading the TF myself then setting the home port to the intended destination. When you only have half a dozen or so to deal with this isn't bad, but when you have convoys going all over the place, it gets to be very tedious to do the convoy upkeep. And it is certinaly wastefull of fuel and escorts to have an auto-convoy that is only loaded in 1 direction.

I support Termies original comment, if you play against the AI (100% of my games are) why assign anything to the computer apart from Auto convoys or maybe subs? I find that AI struggles through (I intevene a bit to ensure its working OK) but cant see why you would gift it any control of your side.
As for point 3, yep its a problem, also the return tracks used by autoconvoys are cactus.
I allow the system to create the autoconvoy, but redirect them once at sea, i often use Darwin as their target and run smaller convoys out of Darwin to Sorong, Ambon etc.
PS. AndrewB[&o][&o], On your extended map, I often get autoconvoys slated for Manila stuck just south of Aden, convoys heading to other places are OK???

John, thanks for the tip about creating the convoy loop. (Only 999,999 useful tips left to learn[8D])
