I used to raise the catching skill of DB's by 5 using JD's editor but I learned that 5 years down the road you might have issues with too many interception because the DB's catching skill are too well developed. Thats why now before I start playing I sim through the first 5 seasons of a league so that the players are well developed and I am not having issues with dramatic changes in gameplay down the road.

That is a good point.

In an advanced league with different age players, the veterans have some better skills.

It may be worth running the defenders' catching skills through a bell curve though.

i thought about simming the first couple seasons, but the cpu takes over and screws up my depth charts and rosters.

That should only happen when the roster has an injuried player or some depth charts are open - esp. special team slots. I think we had an thread earlier about the issue.

i add some points to the catch skill attribute for DBs and LBs.  that has fixed the problem.  DBs and LBs still don't get much INT YDS, but that will come.

in future seasons, if INTs get out of control, i will adjust them back.

thanks for all the help!

Thanks for this thread!  I've been noticing the same thing - 6 live games so far have produced no interceptions (simming has totally different set of problems; 700 yards passing?!  Tom Brady eat your heart out)  I'll give the ideas in this thread a shot.

So this brings up a question about the players who are generated for the initial draft/roster populations.  Are none of the players generated with veteran-like stats?
