What is a real file name that displays the date? Give me an example of one. I've tried "6/44 Kharkov" that doesn't work, it doesn't like the "/". Okay. So then I tried "644 Kharkov" that doesn't work either. It simply displayed the scenario as "Kharkov" when I did it that way.
It appears to me that the scenario display is taking the date from somewhere besides the file name and displaying that first in the display string.
That's what Stridor's been trying to explain. The scenario name displayed in the in-game list is in a separate field from the Windows filename. Windows will not allow "/" characters in a filename. They will however work fine in the in-game display name. Load up one of the existing scenarios and you should see how the file name and scenario name are in different fields.
In Post #8 above, Stridor highlighted the exact field to use for the display name. The filename field is at the bottom of the editor display, the display name is near the top.

- Erik
Ok, thanks.
I'm having to unlearn some things and relearn some things.
Good Hunting.

Thanks for screen shot. That shows exactly what I'm talking about. Mentioning what shouldn't be done but nothing about how to actually do it.
Give me one example of a file name Stridor and I'll work it out from there.
BTW, thanks for all your patience with the new guy on the block.
In the screenshot above, look at the field labeled "Name:" with the #4 on it. That's the in-game scenario name where you can type in characters like "/" without a problem. Now look further in the manual to p.117 and see the field in the screenshot there that's labeled "File:" with a #51 on it. That's the actual filename for Windows and that's the one that can't have special characters like "/" in it.

- Erik

Next item. Why would a scenario that has one flag end after turn one when the flag is German but not when it is Soviet? Same forces. Same setup. Same everything except that the flag has a different owner at the start of the game?
Also, how do you face the units on the map? Can't find that in the rulebook or I'm reading over it too.
I named the units only to find that I used the wrong designation for them. When I put the unit back in the names box and change it the scenario doesn't make the change when I display it. I guess I could delete it and reenter it but that seems like a lot of work to just make a two digit change to the name.
Good Hunting.

I'd have to see the scenario, not sure off the top of my head.
Also, how do you face the units on the map? Can't find that in the rulebook or I'm reading over it too.
Select a platoon on the map. Then left click on the little red marker and drag it to rotate the platoon.

Use the modify platoon button after changing any existing unit data. It looks kind of like a pencil and is right between add and delete platoon.

I over-looked both of these things first time I went through the scenario. The commit platoon edits button is on p116, (button 36), and the roate facing on p. 119.
But face the HQ unit first! other wise you're not gonna like what it does to your squads when you do.
Thanks,
Rick

Hi All,
Here is my method for those who may not know about 3d map placement and adjustment.
1. In the scenario editor proceed normally until placing units on the 2d map.
2. On the 2D map place all of your units together in an easy to find area. One area for Russian and another for the other German.
3. Finish the scenario and save it.
4. Start the game normally and load your scenario to play as German ( or Russian if you want to place them first ). when on the 3D map Press F4 so you can place units anywhere you want.
5. Place the units on the map and face them as you wish. When satisfied press F3.
6. Close the game normally and start the scenario editor. Press the merge button for the side you ajusted. It is the Button with an M on it above the OOB box. You will see the side then change on the 2D map.
7. Save the game again.
8. Repeat steps 4 to 7 for the other side.
I hope this helps. It sure makes for finer placement and adjustment of units on the map. It seems like alot of steps but really it is quite quick to do......................outside of the time it takes you to decide where units will be placed and faced. < One of my great enjoyments and time wasters. [:D]

Rick and John, thanks to you both. I got it. In my case for this battle both sides start on a road so it was easy to know where to put them.
Good Hunting.
