Not to pile on -- but I have to say that there could be a bit more contrast between union and confederate controlled territory.  I remember looking at the westernmost area of Maryland, and simply could not tell which side controled it.  Cities are a bit hard to see sometimes as well.  That being said, I like the "period" look of the map, and I would not want to change it all that much.
