Fighting Steel, good game.
Doesn't work on XP though.
After installing the NWS FSP mods to Fighting Steel it worked for me in XP (it may not work for everyone though!). FSP mods also kills the bugs and adds lots of new ships and features.

There was a guy that created a navel ship level game that used the graphic icons used during WW2 on plotting boards on every ship in the fleet. I bought my copy when he was selling them out of his apartment. Later the game was sold by a company called RAW Entertainment. The game was called Action Stations. I still have it on the old 3 1/2" floppy disks. I have been meaning to try installing it and running under DOSbox but can't find the time and it may not even be possible to install on XP Pro. It was a great navel game with lots of different battles from both the Atlantic and pacific.

I still have the Action Stations game on 3 1/2 floppy disks. I was wondering if it is possible to install under XP Pro and run under a program like DOSBox. It sure would be great to play that again. We played one of the night action battles and he being the "I wonder what thnis button does" sort person. Welle ended up turning on his search lights and managed to attract a very large number of Allied torpedo's LOL. For its time it had the AI I have ever played against and still is one of the best even compared to games to day.

Anyone rememver the old PTO games for the super nintendo? I always thought those were some great naval wargames especially from such a simple console. I, to this day, don't have a clue how Koei pulled it off. For that kind of console, that was an extremely complex and detailed video game.

Madgamer,
Actions Stations was excellent, too bad there was never anyone to redo that game.

Yep Action Station one of the best games I have played, but boy was it slow on my old Amiga, watching those torpedoes approaching was like watching paint drying, it was much better on my PC. In fact is was my first PC games on no less than 2 51/4 in discs [:D]

IMO, one of the greatest aspects of Action Stations was the Fog of War.
If you lost a contact and re-acquired it later in the game, you would get a new ID number with it. So, you never really knew if it was the same ship over and over or if additional enemy forces were appearing. (Well, except for the really big capital ships that were more easily identifiable.)
