as the danes dont seem to have a military and invading them is a formality, why not hust have an event that fires when germany declares war that states that denmark has surrendered ? as a penalty perhaps the uk , us and ussr could get a few political points ?

I did that eventually but then I decided to invade Norway and then I need to use the North Sea. So only option is paratroopers then?
After losing my fleet several times trying to invade Norway, I finally just moved all three air armies to the north tip of Denmark along with my para unit. Use air strikes to pound the daylights out of the Oslo unit, then air drop in and take the city. This strategy worked like a charm.

Well except you can not see the unit in Oslo so can not bomb it.

Actually that is pretty much what happened anyway.
