thanks! I actually like the coloring in posts 12 and 13. I'm out of town and don't have the scen sheer with me, but I believe it was July, 1944 for the date.

Rick,

While I'm working to tweak the mesh I decided to make a texture out of the blueprint I used. The camo layer is from the Russian Truck texture so at least it's a color we can expect them to use.

Screenshot below is from scene editor as a static model ... Anyway, the color of the camo can be changed but I figured it would be the same summer color as the truck. By the way, I'm going to throw the truck wheel on the front later on.

That's really marvelous, but I have a question...

On that particular model, the APC, and the AA version, wasn't there a bulkhead between the driver and rear passengers?

There doesn't appear to be a bulkhead on the blueprint and I've looked at other photo's and models and it's not there. Of course, perhaps some variants had the bulkhead added later on it's just I can't find a photo that shows it.

Now, if there is a small (short) bulkhead roughly the height of the seats then I'll have to go back and look closely ... I'm thinking your idea has the bulkhead going all the way to the top of the vehicle.

I wouldn't use them directly into Pck as a mod but more for private skinning since I don't know the rights for using their skin outside of RO ... which includes the Dark Sky mod that contains the US Army skins.

This is why I decided to go back to using the blueprint for a skin ... Which, by the way I'm going to leave the insignia off since it's easier to add labels than removing them.

RO has some great skins ... huge textures but great stuff ... They have a nice Tiger skin that I've been drooling over since I opened the file with the SDK.

Looking good Rob, back from my trip so i'll be getting back to this scenario now.

I'm also still researching the 3rd Pz Div for a campaign I want to do. I've worked through two of my books (Army Group Center, Werner Haupt and Hitler Moves East, Paul Carrel). I'm going through Hitler's General, Steven Newton now. (It focuses on Walther Model so should cover 3rd pz Div pretty well for time I'm looking at).

MAybe it's me but your raised items need toned down. Your gaps look like ridges, like around the doors.
 
BTW Soviet paint jobs range from an odd olive to blue green to dark green to ?

Progress Report on Hill 621 Scen.

I've pretty much got the terrain sculpted the way I want it, maybe a few touch-ups left as I find them.

I've decided to place shell holes as fixed rather than random, that way they only mess up the dirt road texture where they actually are. I've coded them as foxhole terrain, so the bounding box are of the shell hole will provide some cover for infantry and some hindrance to movement for all types.

I've pretty much got the woods done.

Still need to place walls, hedges, buildings, and I'll probably put in some destroyed building as well. Then some random map detritus here and ther. Perhaps some telegraph poles, at least along one road into town.

I'll start on OOB after map is done. For minimap, I think I'll try to use the color scheme from the standard scenarios that came with PCK - seems like buildings and both sides units showed up pretty well on it.

Progress report - Hill 621 Scenario

Finished walls today. Will start on a row of telegraph poles along eastern road leading into and out of town. Then I'll add buildings and a few other items. Might put in some fenced fields here and there. Will finsih with some scattered trees in open areas.

Hill 621 Update -

Finished putting in the telephone lines along the north-south road. This took a while, and I'll need to some final touches in Scene Edit to get the wire ends to match up - but I like having the telephone lines in.

This would have been much simpler if I had kept my road straight. But thats ok.

Going to start on laying in some buildings now. I think for quite a few of them (mainly small houses), I'll have a one-squad capacity. I'll increase capacity for the larger ones.

Rob,

How are you coming with the M3 mod - looked like you were getting pretty far along. I hope to finish the Hill 621 Map in next few days. I'll start on OOB then. And still need to do some testing of course.

I was planning to wait until after next patch to release it, otherwise it will require some mods. But if I wait till after the patch, it will only require the latest PC:K patch.

I'm still working on larger project of a campaign for 3rd Pz Div - but still just doing research. Just about finished with my last main source, Panzer Leader, then I'lll put together a Campaign map and select my final key battles and start to work on them. I'll probably have to do some more research at that point. My notes on Soviet OOB's has been pretty scarce so far.

I found a nice M2 halftrack at google sketchup. Unfortunately when I export it with a directx plugin, I just get one x file. I guess it could be used as an ornament like the tractors.
