You will be able to load mines even in port 3 (but you need a MLE) or port 9 - I think Brisbane, Sydney, Tirincomalee, Diamond Harbor, Pearl Harbor could be of that size.

SO, I can unload all of the oil and resources at Darwin, just as a hub to get it out of the DEI to a safe place. I have beefed up Darwin.
THEN move it to Sydney, and shouldn't have any try loading at Darwin?

Well, unless the Japanese seize it first... you have to move by ship, it won't move on the rails/roads (depending on your mod)... it will just sit at Darwin.

Right, I am just pulling it all there to awaiting tankers and cargo ships ready to send it down to Sydney.
Thanks.

Set up a shuttle system to Perth. If you take one tanker and run it all the way down to Sydney, then it takes forever for the ship to get back to the DEI, and by that time it could be under new ownership. I would set up however many tankers you can afford (AK's carry oil, too, or at least fuel), set 2/3 on shuttle runs between Perth and the DEI, or maybe use them all depending on circumstances. The other 1/3 goes from Perth to Sydney. If you use Darwin to dump resources and oil there is a good chance of having it stuck there when the bad guys take Timor and shut everything down in North OZ. Snag some resources out of the DEI, too. The Japanese player needs those, as well. Don't waste any time. You probably have until late January and early Feb to move relatively safely out of Java (maybe not even that much time, it depends on your opponent's aggressiveness). After that, it's going to get tough and you can't afford to lose too many tankers. Consider transferring a bunch of shipping out of SEA down to the American/OZ fronts. They can make stops in the DEI to pick resources and troops up.

AKs can carry fuel but not oil.

I've sent a ton of AKs and TKs into the DEI to move stuff out, and using Darwin as a hub, but after thinking, I need to start moving stuff out of Darwin fast that I just moved in.
Thanks. Its the AI btw..

Hmm, I just started another solo game as the nefarious Japanese. Instead of an enveloping tide of penny-packet invasion forces, I dropped relatively sizable forces from the sea onto Jolo and Amboina with plenty of baseforce support and then set up twin-engine bombers and Zero Escorts. I'm not attacking Kendari and getting into an attrition campaign, but the planes from Amboina are doing a pretty serious job on keeping anything from sailing directly from Kendari to Darwin.
BTW, getting the oil and resources to Oz or India is the thing to do. India get plenty of supply through Karachi & Bombay so Oz is the better choice (hence my Japanese strategy to make it more complicated). I really distrust Darwin as a major operating base for the Allies in the early game. It has "TRAP" written all over it.

Thanks Mike. I thought that may be the case. [&o]

It's early 1/42 in my campaign and the AI keeps sending the KB up and down the Java Sea attacking random TF's and bases. They've invaded Palembang with an Imperial Division but only a little armored battalion at Balikpapan. Macassar, Soerabaya and Kendari are all still mine, as is Ambroina, and I'm draining oil and resources out of them as well as fuel to move down to Darwin, and withdrawing Dutch base forces down to Timor and Kai Island. Is it closer to move resources/oil to Perth than it is to Sydney? Those TF's look awfully vulnerable out there when the KB is prowling south of Java.
On the good side, one of my Dutch subs torpedoed Ryujo, and I got the "massive ammo explosion" result for a bonus. That's one CVL that won't be bothering me again; now if the other subs would do that against one of the bigger CV's I'll be really happy.

I've seen the AI send the KB on the Java Sea patrol before. Sometimes they just float along, but sometimes they get a spotting report and will chase down a rich target. In a game I was playing, the KB chased down a convoy that had a lot of the fleet auxiliaries from Manila and ended up sinking the lot in a turkey shoot near the Torres Strait after a 1000 mile stern chase.

I've been trying to run supply TF's from Surabaya and the other Java bases down to Darwin and Timor to build up the stock of fuel and supply at those spots, using the numerous AK's the Dutch had in their ports. Apparently the AI caught wind of this because after it took Davao the carriers have been running up and down Java sinking everything they can find.
Apparently they can't bother with helping take Balikpapan or Kendari though, or even any of the Java ports themselves. So far they've made one landing north of Java and have taken most of the ports on Borneo, and that's it. Meanwhile I keep pulling supply, fuel and resources out of Amboina, Balikpapan, Kendari, and the Java ports (when I can avoid the KB), and packing the Java Sea with Dutch and British subs. I've got an AS at Balikpapan rearming subs as fast as they can, and pulled all the auxiliaries out of Manila and Surabaya early on.
My next goal is to get as many of the Dutch CD and base units out and to Timor, reinforced with some of the Philippine units I evacuated early, to try and form a barrier north of Darwin.
