In both instances, the CVs were at sea and far away from port.

it´s a known bug. At least I know it´s a 100% bug and it was fix/broken with many other things due to some patches in the past...

I don´t know if this is on the list for an upcoming patch...

It is not. Joe only has a limited amount of time and so the the patch list for 1.807 is extremely limited. I would tell you whats on the list, but Joe might slap me for it so I wont [:'(]

The only thing i am really waiting for the next patch is the correction of the pilot bug because this bug can kill a game.

i would not expect any dramatic improvement in this respect... they've already patched this twice trying to get rid of the problem... they might be able to fix it, but it would probably kill all games in progress, i'm guessing.

If it is the case, so, what is the interest to make a new patch for WitP, a new patch which kill all current WitP games as AE will be soonly released.
Or it is a way to make promotion of AE??[:(]

As i said, they probably will NOT include any more significant changes to fix the "disappearing pilot bug"... there are literally dozens (maybe hundreds) of problems with the code that need fixing that have nothing to do with that particular problem.

They COULD do a dramatic code rewrite, but i really, really, REALLY doubt it. At this point i'd expect to see some minor things to be fixed. The current patch is "stable" and anything major might be "unstable" (in my experience, anyway).

My current game, playing daily turns, is pretty much over. My USA just took Singapore, This game has taken hundreds of hours, but is now on hold until AE is done. I doubt that I will care if the original game is patched once I get my hands on AE.

it´s not a known bug? Lol, I know of at least a dozen people that know about it. Probably hundreds. Which makes me wonder that the officials never heard about it. funny. Not serious though as you can, as people have described, save the turn before trying the transfer and if it doesn´t work, reload the turn.

Every bug fixed in the upcoming AE is a hundred times more important than further bug fixing of WITP anyway IMO.

that´s how it should be but that´s not always how it really goes. Like ny59giants said, his carriers were way off from port. I do the same as n01487477 stated, save the game before you do CV-base transfers because if it goes wrong you can reload the turn and usually it doesn´t happen twice in a row. At least not on my machine. Glitch, bug, however you want to call that.

Yes, there is a known bug about transfert of air groups but i prefer not to speak about it.
Supposedly NOT a bug, but by design... if a CV was in port, planes were transferred ashore by winching (apparently needing some sort of partial disassembly)... this was modelled...

Personally, i think it is excessive, but that was the explanation given a long ago... i would guess any damage by a winching process would be minimal.

I am (and I guess others too) are not speaking about a docked CV TF. It always has been by design that a docked CV TF has it´s ac damaged when transferred. What people (and me) are describing are undocked CV TFs, yet CV TFs that are hundreds of miles away from a port and transfer ac when they suddenly all get damaged. Therefore, Castor always saves the turn before doing that and if it happens, Castor reruns the turn until it doesn´t happen.

If it´s not a bug, call it a glitch, but it´s there.

I think Yamato meant that "It is not on the list for an upcoming patch." [:)]

Thats exactly what I said. As for the "pilots bug" that will take changing the size of the database to allow more pilots which would mean you wouldnt be able to continue current games. The simplest solution for the "pilot bug" is to not put 200 pilots in a 16 plane unit. We have talked about killing off WIA pilots to make more room but frankly thats the only thing left to do without forcing re-starts of existing games.

Most (can't say all) WIA pilots do come back, so I'd be against this kind of patch, players should be made aware and not overburden the system by grossly increasing the number of pilots in their groups.

Players have been made aware... but how many people read all the posts in all the forums? Not many.

it´s mostly a problem of stock WITP I guess because if you try a mod with different A2A results (not as bloody) you won´t need a hundred thousand of pilots during your whole PBEM if it really lasts long. For example, in my Nikmod PBEM against Miller we´re in 8/43 and while I don´t know how many pilots we really needed so far, I guess the fact that the leading Japanese ace has only 15 kills and only a couple of pilots more are over 10 kills shows quite well that this mod doesn´t require as many pilots as stock. And I doubt there´s an Allied ace with 15 kills at the moment.

I agree, for me WIA pilots are still pilots and they come back.
It would be a better idea to definitively kill of the game, KIA and MIA pilots even if it doesn't represent a lot of pilots.
That's better than nothing.
