I'm 62, live in NE NY (+/- 210 road miles from Fenway, Yankee Stadium and Citi Field)
I'll go with the BoSox, Cubbies, Dodgers (before and after the move), Braves and Cards. My heart even softened towards the damnyankees with Torre and Jeter.

40 years old, and um... yeah.. [;)]
I always like to point out that it was the 1980 Phillies that made me fall in love with baseball, as I grew up in eastern PA.

I'm from the mid-Hudson River valley in New York. Lifelong Yankees fan, though I lived in Boston for eight years and actually like the Sox as much as it's possible for me to (not head-to-head, of course). I turn 39 soon.

Interesting. I worked in Willow Grove for a while. Well, actually, it was Ivyland.

I'll be 59 in a couple of months, and my favorite team for the past 50+ years is the St. Louis Cardinals. Shaking the hand of Stan the Man was one of my biggest thrills.
Fascinating how the age range is skewed toward "older" (but not old [;)]) players. And are there any females among us?

I'm 34. I don't really have a favorite major league team anymore, so I'll say the AAA Sacramento River Cats. My wife and I moved to Sacramento a couple years ago where I became a great fan of minor league baseball. My Father's Day gift this year is a trip to the ballpark with my wife and 7 month old daughter. It will be my daughter's first ballgame - first of many, I hope. I'm looking forward to it.
Hi Dave,
Funny you mentioned that you will be taking your daughter to her first baseball game to see the RiverCats. My wife, daughter and I lived in Rocklin for about eight years (we have since moved back up north to Southwest Washington). My daughter's first baseball game was also the RiverCats, although she was about six at the time. Even stranger is that they were playing the Portland Beavers, who now she loves to go see.
That's funny. Considering some of the posts in this thread, it is starting to look like a small world after all. I moved to California years ago from southeast Washington - Richland to be exact. I grew up a Mariners fan, but I lost touch after being away for so long and only getting to watch the A's and Giants on TV. I've tried and tried to take to the A's, but I just can't (what self-respecting Mariners fan could? [;)]). Although, I have enjoyed watching the Giants the last couple seasons. The Bonds hype of years past turned me off to the Giants, but I like the new team. I actually thought they would do well this season, and so far they aren't making me look like an idiot - yet. Anyway, until I find my major league identity, I'll stick with the River Cats.
RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team?
Ok, I did NOT specify a fave minor-league team, so in "A" it's the West Virginia Power. They are now affiliated with the Pirates, which helps. Appalachian Power Park is just a few blocks away from where I work in downtown Charleston.
I used to go to old Watt Powell Park in Kanawha City (a few miles east of Charleston) and watch the Wheelers, who later became the Alley Cats. The Alley Cats moved to downtown and became the Power.

The female gamer question is a good one. I don't know of a single woman who plays these types of games. I HAVE known of a few female wargamers, but sports sims? Not a one.

Mates ...
As for me, Later as young man, I moved to Pawtucket, RI - where the Pawtucket Red Sox became a less expensive trip to watch the game, in which I took my oldest son, Ben to see his first game as a five year old ...
Now, living near the Albuquerque Isotopes in NM ...

I am 61 years old and grew up in Md just outside of Washington D.C. I was a hard core Brooklyn Dodgers fan as a kid complete with baseball cards, an old Dodgers cap I wore all the time, pennants on the wall and knew the lineups and rosters. I went to a number of Senators games as a kid, saw Maris hit #59 (I think it was 59) in 1961, saw Musial (while visiting in Cincy) and Ted Williams play along with the Yankees at Labor Day double headers. I live in AZ now so I am a DBacks fan now but still have a soft spot for the Nats and the O's of Balt.

DNeely,
When I was growing up I hated the Dodgers. As I grew older I realized that I really liked alot of the Dodgers players. They were such a good team and were always a threat to my Yankees. What a line up they had!!! Many times I wondered how the Yankees could beat them. The Yankee line up wasn't near as powerful as the Dodgers. The pitching was a toss up. Any way the Dodger moved and I started missing them. It wasn't the same with them in LA. Any time something about the Brooklyn Dodgers comes on TV, I watch it. I now realize if it not for Mickey I would have been a Brooklyn Fan.
Best wishes,
Don

Hey Don:
"Brothers from different mothers"
Sorry but it seemed to fit. In my case I saw those Yankees many times since I was in DC and they were the big guys when they came in for a series. I'm not sure what it was about the Dodgers that pulled me to them. I was a big defender of Duke Snider as being at least the equal to Mantle and Mays. I loved Campy, the Newk, Furillo, Gil and Sal "The Barber" Maglie (Loved that nickname). A guy not on either team but I loved Virgil "Fireball" Trucks because of his nickname and just how his name sounded. How about Ryne Duran and those glasses that made him look like he would hit anyone who dared to come into the batters box. I used to have a pretty good submarine delivery myself and had a knuckle curve from that delivery that no one in the neighborhood could hit!
I could go one for hours I'm afraid. The Dodgers just had a mystic quality, lovable losers in the big series to the hated Yanks. I just wish I could have sat in Ebbets Field bleachers one time!!!
