Don't worry Casus_Belli we will play a random game to make it simple. I have put the players at the top now for clarity. Let me know if anyone wants to swop places or anything before we start. I was thinking of a 50x50 map, 1st tech available, nukes, factories, rebels, shroud, mirror. 70% land. Hope this is okay, any objections let me know. I will post the final teams tomorrow night so we can start swopping E-Mail addresses with the players before us.

Looks like team 1 constists of two very strong players. When Appren asked for an experienced player to start Russia41 I thought, well, I did several games now, so I am experienced. But it is a big difference between knowing how to move units and being an experienced player. As I just learn in a lesson Appren teaches me.
Anyway, Casus_Belli, if you are still looking for a partner, maybe a double pack of enthusiasm is worth as much as a double pack of experience. Tell me if you have still a vacant position in the team want to give it a try. [8D]

To be honest I am really crap at this game. I have been playing Appren for over a year now and he always beats me (and then tells me what I did wrong). I am still learning a lot. If you want to all of us list how long they have been playing AT and how experenced they feel they are. This way we can pair up more fairly. I have no objections to swapping with someone if want.

Bulldogintheuk - Played AT from the beginning, still learning, low-medium skill (if I am honest)

Played AT for a year. Experienced in most ww2 scenarios but haven't a clue on random scenarios!

Turn to Casus_Belli. Factories, eh? I guess it's time to start churning out some engineers real fast then! Hoping for some lucky rebellion spawn in someone elses territory soon! :)

Turn to Ccr.

I may have missed my chance here, since the game has started, but if we're going to have factories, can we make them very expensive? Also the research seem very cheap. Just a thought.

Don't worry, my starting position is stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean, come and get me [:D].

An island in the ocean is where sailors were brought when they disobeyed the captain. Why should anyone want to take you on board again [:'(]

Gentlemen,
can we please discuss quickly the rules of engagement.
My understanding is:
[blockquote]
  • We are playing in 3 fixed teams and there will be one team who wins.
  • Switching of teams is not allowed and there is no regime winner, just the team/alliance.
  • In between different teams may discuss temporary pacts on an informal basis
[/blockquote]Did I get this correctly? (Maybe I played too much of the boardgame Diplomacy when I was younger so I am now careful to discuss the setup at the beginning so everybody is on the same page).
Good luck to everybody and may the best alliance win.

That is what I thought the game is about. But I am playing this game for the first time, so maybe there are different options.

It's not quite what I would have preferred, but looks like a good game just the same.
I wonder how many other people spent endless hours, and learned the map of Europe, from playing Diplomacy, like Lunaticus and me.
