Don't think thats a Tabby, nose doesn't look right, wing span seems short and there appears to be some type of ventral fairing.

Well, it may not be a Tabby, it would not be out of the question for seniour ranking Army oficers to have been transported on a Navy Transport plane, but were asuming that they road on that plane in that case.


It might be the DC-2, Francilion notes that the DC-2 was used by the Army, if this is in fact a DC-2 it is an extreamly rare shot of one.

The Undercarage is imo the key.

The DC-2 had a shorter wing span than the DC-3.  THe under carriage was pretty similar between the two.  The cowling looks like a DC-2 cowling.  The cowling flaps in the DC-3 didn't usually extend that far up as I recall.
