I'd like to use this thread as kind of a quasi-blog (whatever that is) to express thoughts from inside the AE Team - and responses to same. This thread will replace the "General" thread from earlier in the project. First topic is "EXPECTATIONS". Sorry for the length - and I suspect most regular readers know most of this stuff - but for those that don't ...

Well written, well said, and well done, Joe! [8D]

Hats off and endless thanks to you and the entire team for birthing this baby. [&o]

My Texas office is in Georgetown, so I hope to someday be able to buy Don a beer.
MacEwans Export Please. I'm actually in Sun City. See - I really am retired!
Been joined at the hip with this man for over 2 years. He really is retired, and requires Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee or single malt Scotch to get him away from the fluttering maidens. But, if you pay the freight, your world will open to a whole new level.

Kind words all, thanks.

But Sun City is not for the well-healed. Its mostly Social Security and Medicare. Some of us had higher financial hopes but Wall Street took care of that.

Still a wonderful place and my recommendation to all is to retire as soon as possible. If enough of you come to Sun City Texas we can start a WITP/AE club.

Yeah, I really miss her. Which reminds me, I gotta get some more shells for the scatter gun.

At least tell me you're loading them with rock salt. You're no good to us in prison.

From your previous descriptions of her, she should have been hard to miss.

Thanks Joe for the info as I was curious about how it all came to where it is today. I played WITP extensively in the day but as can happen for me, burn out took over. I have my CC ready though to revisit this old friend. My hats off to all you fellas.

I'm hoping to start a chapter in the Caribbean one day soon. [:D]

MichaelM

Michael is one of the less visible but most important AE Team members - besides being our Air Team programmer - Michael is also our code build manager. Each week for almost two years, Michael has done a weekly build of the code submissions from the various technical team members. On our team this is a manual process - so it takes some time. I don't think Michael has made a mistake - in over 100 builds .... wow ...

Michael joined us in March 2006 - or rather we (Don and Joe) joined him! He was actually already helping Michael Wood - M. Wood was coding on patch 1795 and MichaelM was testing. MichaelM had also written a number of utilities (such as witpload) which are still heavily used by WITP modders.

Michael is a software guy from down under for his day job.

Also Michael has been involved in a number of other coding duties such as security and trying to slay the biggest meanest "dragon" of all the "synch bug" (actually many different issues with one symptom). We can't say the "synch bug" is totally slayed - but we think we made a big dent in it with AE.

I would like to thank Michael for continuing in his role for so long - and providing so much value to the community.

Nik-a-demus

Nik was an original WITP Beta Team member.

When Joe and Don took over the WITP coding in March 2006 Nik (together with MichaelM) was our test team.

Nik is of course, also well known within the community for his many versions of "Nik Mod".

I also was on Nik's Beta Team when he built his stock version of Nik Guad Mod. This has now been "ported over" to AE as our scenario 004.

Nik is very well read on many aspects of WITP, particularly the air war, but also the naval war and more recently even the land war.

I'd like to thank Nik for supporting the team over the last three years - there has been some dessension -
and it would be un-natural and unhealthy were this not the case -
but there is also plenty of mutual respect on all sides.
Ultimately we all have the same goal of making AE as good as it can be.

Nik is also a good player and I have enjoyed many hundreds of turns opposite him as both Japanese and Allied.

Thanks Nik!
