I don't have the game yet but I've been following a number of AARs and threads. I've not seen anything like the above in any of them.

No...the airgroups on the carriers are converting and becoming larger. It happens with the Allied CV's at various times during the war, too.

seems to me like reorganization ...the total number of ac stays the same...

Delayed planes for the aircraft pool: 0 (6) x Do-24K-1, 0 (1) x B-10B, 1 (0) x P-36A Mohawk, 2 (0) x I-153, 1 (0) x SNJ-3 Texan, 3 (7) x SOC-1 Seagull

I don't have that game, but...
Those 6 delayed Do-24s are probably from 2 Dutch flights upgraded to Catalinas, and Seagulls from upgraded cruiser's floatplane units. It seems that after upgrading aircraft lands into pool with delay. If it's true, then it's a great improvement over WitP.
