I see :)

We'll really need a new wiki when all calculation is done!

Gilbert,

Judging by the diagram in Jentschura, Kashino certainly didn't lack the lifting gear required for transhipping substantial ordnance weights, but on this matter JWE's 'da man' and he's the one you have to convince. Looks like an extremely interesting ship in the propulsion department, with Anglo-Swiss turbines and what appears to be an experimental HP boiler (high degree superheat?) - would like to find out more.

Soya is due to upgrade from AG to AKE in March 1943, though her capacity remains unaltered. I'm with you about the conversion having been completed before the war's outbreak. Another interesting ship that survives to this day, having done yeoman service as a survey/research ship post-war! Incidentally, it appears we get sister ship Minryo Maru as a Gozan Maru class freighter, but not sibling Tenryo Maru.

Well, I think AE game should not ignore real facts. Soya has to be available at the beginning of the war and Kashino's capacity has been underestimated and should be amended as well. I agree we have to convince JWE but it seems easy to show him facts. Furthermore, it will help Japan to have more Ammunition ships available. Only one available doesn't seem right IMO.

The fruits of more febrile Yokel rummaging in the scenario one database for information about AK and xAK ship conversions.

The attached CSV file (with .txt extension) covers much the same ground as Mike Solli's chart in the Managing the Japanese Merchant Fleet thread (Post #2). This way, you can slice and dice the data in a spreadsheet as you please.

This is the product of running queries against the database rather than being a hand-crafted spreadsheet, so any errors are the result of my misunderstanding the database schema. If in doubt, you can check values in the editor; that's why I've included the database ID for each ship class.

One oddity is the conversions to AMCs. Since they don't have any non-zero sys damage, conversion time or yard size values, I wonder whether they didn't get implemented. [&:]

I've included tonnage, speed and capacities and number in class in the hope these will assist informed decisions about conversions - hope this is of some use.

<edit> BTW, check the time some of these conversions take. Yes, Virginia, you can have your fancy repair ships and seaplane tenders - but you'd better be ready to wait for them [>:] </edit>
