Good. Now you can tell your parents you'll see them when you've mastered the game.
Say maybe by the time you are 21[:D]

Still got that one. Just would have to commandeer a Sunday School room to set the thing up - then hope the Hand of God rule did not intervene. Shucks! He might be 45 before he found a place to set that up!

I took an unused wall in the garage and nailed up metal sheeting and then taped up the 43 square foot map and then got about 2,000 magnets, one for each of the pieces, and played on the wall. Worked OK unless the temperature got below 20 and/or somebody opened the garage door when the wind was blowing.[8|] BTW if memory serves me that game cost $50 new back then!!![X(]

I remember watching the street for any signs of the UPS truck to deliver Caesars Legions to me. It really wasn't worth the wait like this game is.

ckk - $45 on early order. I even finished it ONCE! This game gave me that same feeling at the beginning .... laboring to move the millstone and get it rolling, but fearing getting caught beneath it.(spare room on the floor, with a fence-section table for the air and supply tracks. NO CATS ALLOWED!!)

$45 I wonder what that is in current dollars. But it started a an over 30 year hobby. It and all of its iterations have been worth every penny and endless hours of work and pleasure. Now at least the computer keeps track of the supplies!!

My brother and I started with a hand drawn map of SWPAC and paper tags pasted to wooden Risk pcs. Imagine our surprise when we saw our first copy of USN in '73. We have many a battle scarred map (firefalls, waterspots)Good times. I hear S&T still publishes an issue with a game in it, but I just can't get my head around trying to play a board game again, even if I had the space.

Wooden counters with paper labels!! We used to DREAM of having wooden counters! We used pieces of chewed gum formed into crudely shaped ships with a rough-drawn map of the Solomons etched onto the sidewalk with charcoal briquettes.....

$45 in 1978 is about $200 in 2008 dollars (or 2009 estimated)...give or take 50 bucks depending on indices used...

now that's an odd first post! [;)]
