Dec 24th thru 27th 1941


Chinese forces over the last week had moved into Sinyang in force in an attempt to rest control from the spread out Japanese forces. Not having good recon and the Japanese flying missions daily this was noticed. All available troops in the area were ordered to converge immediatly. Artillary was moved in, Divisions strategically moved in.

The Chinese must have noticed the buildup for on Dec 25th they launched a single corps shock attack to test the now large Japanese army!!!![:-]

Cards the prisoners turned in, trying to get away from their capitalist oppressors

Jan 6th 1942 NW Coast Borneo

The Base Force Samurai is looking over the logistics of refueling the Betties and Nells on this airfield located on the NW corner of Borneo, they had just figured out two days ago how to get torpedo's here, but the only targets they could see were in northern Java and a few transports were hit the day before.

Quickly a young lt samurai rushes in and bows "Captain, With compliments of the Navy Ryujo's long range scouts have moved towards Soerabaja and have spotted Forze Z with Boise outside the harbor!"

Base Force Samurai "Immediatly begins calculating and smiles, yes they can carry torpedo's, when he plots the Ryujo's range it is to far only small bombs, but he must make up for not finding these ships on Dec 7th, Alert all crews of the change of target"

Shortly later most crews get the message and Nells and Betties take off from the airfield destination Force Z!

The Japanese had been hesitant about taking Wuchow, the enemy force had seem to be similar in size. Finally on Jan 7th they launched an all out attack after many days bombardments. The delay was unecessary, every day they are learning the Chinese can rarly stand up to a Samurai!!!

The clerk walks into the head office of aircraft supply sitting before him is a smallish man with round glasses looking closely at numbers.

Clerk "Sir do you see what I saw?"

Smallish Man "Yes unfortunatly, these numbers say we are happily making many planes, unfortunatly we will run out of some engines in the next few days"

Clerk "Thats what I noticed the other day what should I tell the assembly lines, we have lots of happy workers for the Empire!"

Smallish Man "There is only one choice, shut down these planes and those there, and start building more of those engines!! It looks like it will take at least a month to straighten this out"

Clerk "I will deliver your orders immediatly!"

Smallish Man "Thankyou for bringing this to our attention, our economy must be watched more closely. Luckily our forces are superior to the enemy so a few can do the work of many"

The clerk bows then rushes out to issue the stop production orders on two lines of aircraft. He thinks to himself, the war will probably be won before we even need those extra planes.

During March 1940 four of the world's greatest liners, the Mauretania, Normandie, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary, were berthed alongside each other. The Queen Elizabeth remained berthed at New York until 13 November and then set sail for Singapore, via Cape Town. The refit was completed in graving dock at Singapore and defensive armament was fitted. Internally it was fitted out to carry troops as it had now been requisitioned by the Ministry of War Transport. On 11 February it sailed from Singapore to Sydney, arriving on 21 February. After the fitting out was completed here it made a trooping voyage to the Middle East and spent the next five months carrying troops from Sydney to Suez, and returning with German POW's. After the US entered the war the Queen Elizabeth sailed to Esquimalt, in Canada, and carried troops to Sydney.

In 1942 the Admiralty drew up plans to convert the two Queens into aircraft carriers but these were later abandoned as it was considered that their troop carrying role was too important. In April 1942 the Queen Elizabeth relocated from Sydney to New York. Here the troop accommodation was altered to make its capacity 10,000. In June 1942 it began to make voyages from New York to Gourock and then to Suez, via Cape Town. In August it began a shuttle service between New York and Gourock. Despite the ever present threat of U-boats the ship continued its service unscathed, although the German press stated that a U-boat had hit the vessel with a torpedo on 11 November.

By the end of the war in Europe the Queens had brought over a million troops to the war zone. The ship's next duty was to repatriate these troops and redeploy troops for the war against Japan. The repatriation of American troops continued until October 1945 when the Queen Elizabeth was released from US service and allocated to the repatriation of Canadian troops. On 6 March 1946 it arrived back in Southampton and was released from Government service as the need for troop movements had diminished. During the war it had carried over 750,000 troops and travelled 500,000 miles.

In Malay we have come to the outskirts of Pegu and there is nothing standing in the way of us moving into Singapore! In China we still continue to advance but the Chinese seem to be stiffening. We have reached the outskirts of Siam along the east railroad and we have taken Wenchow now. The capitalist seem to be stiffening but the Samurai will prevail."

Navy Man "With the withdrawel of Prince of Wales and escorts we have free reign in Java Sea, thus we were able to take you to Kendari. The allied forces tried to move more troops into Port Morseby and meet an intercepting group of cruisers there were no survivors. This also happened at Midway where they were trying to bring in supplies! Don't worry men the Navy is keeping the war going even though you are having trouble"

Army Man "You still have not taken care of those American carriers, I believe they have 4 now"

Navy Man "When they show up we will take care of them, don't you worry"

General Butch McHinnie browsed the report and comments. "Those rag tag band of Dutch fighters are putting a number on those Japanese planes." His aide Captain Ted Fluffy chimed in. "I fear it is a losing battle when better planes show up."

Jan 16th and 17th 1942 240 miles east of Syndey, Australia

Cpt Kaku Tomeo commander of the CV Hiryu paces the bridge. The last of his planes has landed. It had been a few days since they had attacked Noumea and the KB had secretly headed towards Australia's main anchorage Sydney Harbor. They had hoped to catch some American Carriers staging into the area. Unfortunatly none were found. That did not mean the mission was not a success.

On the first day there was complete surprise and no enemy planes flew to intercept. The Japanese pilots tore up a large fleet of transports docked in the harbor. They stayed again a second day to make sure these ships would be out for the war. This day 15 American planes take off to engage the KB, fools Kaku though, who can stand up to samurai's. The harbor was left in shambles many ships in sinking condition.

China
Southern China is a stalemate most of the guerillas are cleared out of central china and we have invested Sian currently both sides have equal number of troops. We believe we have the advantage, but realize the pace has slown considerably from the first 30 days when we pushed at will.

Eastern Pacific
Our line is Wake, Kwaliegn sp?, Baker, Canton and Nukefuteau sp?. All is quiet in this area except for several transports sinking near midway and Palmyra by japanese submarines. Once again this area is quiet, too quiet.

Coral Sea
The KB swung away from Sydney and headed north where it brought support to the Invasion of Port Morseby. The allied High command had put wirraways and A-24 banshee's there which had claimed 3 transports already (almost destorying an SNLF). To remedy this we launched an invasion with the KB pounding the airfield once then land forces and 2 BB's assisting. The troops landed on Jan 24th with only 1 AK sinking due to shore fire. The allied command will probably be surprised that a Samurai division has unloaded, just as much a surprise I had to find 3 Australian Bridages and 2 Battalions in defence. In other words odds seem equal. The airfield is nulliefied at the moment, we have shot down some transports flying in or out? We control the skies and sealanes. Victory will be our but the timetable has lengthened.

The Japanese shocked attacked clark on Jan 21st and achieved a 2 to 1 reducing forts from 3 to 1 after two more days of bombardments, we unleashed our samurais and swept the allied forces from Clark back into Bataan, thier last bastion on Luzon. The end is near.

DEI/ Java/ Singapore

It has been quiet in this area till Jan 24th. The mini KB has withdrawn, but an invasion force moved out and just landed on Jan 24th at Osthaven, this is the southern tip of the island with Palembang! We shall take this city tommorrow. BB's supported the invasion and no resistance has been felt other then ineffective dutch bombers.

What of the Dutch navy, it probably fleed with the Prince of Wales to Perth, Java appears open to us. The BC Repulse has been reported sunk finally.

In addition on Jan 24th a unit landed unopposed at Dili on Timor, the same day 1 PC and 2 tankers were sunk at Kavieng on the western tip of Timor by betties, what they were doing is unsure?

The Bad
A 3 ship transport fleet carrying a Base force decided to go to Johore Barhu, to get bombers in close to Singapore, The maps were faulty and clearly on the corner after the fact had Witp! not WitpAE. Thus the 3 ships sailed with their troops past the guns of singapore and 3 transports and an entire Base force no longer exists!. I don't need that lesson twice.

Malaya
Japanese Zero's and Oscars have been batteling over Rangoon with AVG, Hurricanes showed up and made a bloody nose of my zero's, both sides have stood down.

Singapore was just advanced into on the 24th, I look for it to fall soon!
We took more losses but only one unit was ravaged, and we have a strong assualt strength.
We unleashed the bombardment tommorrow to begin the softening.

Summary
Overall the last few days has seen a slowdown in pace as logistics has taken a front seat to attack. The battles for Palembang area and Port Morseby have just kicked off. I was surprised the defense Scott has pulled together but I believe I shall triumph as he cannot reinforce and I can. Only the allied CV's can interrupt this operation and we welcome finding them as they are still hidden????

Ltc Autsu commandar fo the 5th Motar Btn, walks up to the Ltc Humand of the 3rd Motar Btn. Their units along with all the other units surrounding Singapore had been pouring deadly fire for two days. It was near evening and the 81 mm Motar tubes were hot. The allied forces were surrounded and almost every shell spelled destruction.

Autsu "Looks like the British cannot hold out much longer under this fire."

Humand "I don't think they have a choice, I heard we are launching an attack any day now, as our bombardments have to demoralized them"
