I had a bazooka team take out two Ranger squads in town! My four deuces and 155's have found the range for hellcats on board arty, with an ammo-carrier kill, and a crapload of casualties listed!
His airborne, supported by engineers, are really hurting me on the outskirts of that town I mentioned earlier! Only the presence of two M4 105mm CS tanks is saving me.
I'm still coming, buddy! hope you're ready!

it's probably too late for me but I'm getting used to the night fight tactics - killed two of those flame tanks this turn... and yes my arty sure took a pounding. One of my (last) hellcats got burned out by your M16! man - that's a bummer. Front on too!
notched up a few kills here and there but unsure how much momentum I have left...

hellcat is indeed getting the hang of it. Death up close and nasty! I am encountering some more engineers and Rangers with Tommyguns! Rock and roll, baby!

Red Team are buying the beer and surrendering to Goblin's superior skills... After our initial airborne landing getting into trouble and then getting mopped out woefully quickly my infiltrating rangers were cut to pieces in a similar fashion. My poor hellcats ain't cut out for up close and personal stylie nightfighting but I had to get some to bring along to the party and my wolverines fared just as badly. Goblins use of flame tanks has to be experienced!
Without taking anything away from Goblin's victory here I must admit I had not fully thought through the ramifications of a 3 hex visibility and perhaps - if anything my airborne attack should have been bigger - foregoing ranger infiltration for more droppers and I should have pressed my advance at a faster pace with the result the two would have combined rather than end up in a rather piecemeal attack.
Goblin's Defence was tough indeed and by the time his counterattack had started, I was in little shape to offer up real resistance. I would also have dropped the two batteries of 40mm AA guns and 1 of 57mm AT guns as they saw no part of the battle and at night it really is mobility that's required.
Red Team have learned their lessons well and expect to do better in Normandy, unless there is time for one more exercise...
what do you say Green One? rematch???

Green Team OOB:
4 Airborne Companies
3 Ranger Platoons
2 M16 MGMC Platoons (1 killed a loaded transport!)
2 FO's
2 Ammo Dumps
2 4.2" Mortar Platoons
2 155mm FH Batts
3 Quad .50 AA guns
I called in:
1 Platoon M4A1 Flame Tanks
1 Platoon M4 105mm Combat Support Tanks
1 Ammo Dump
1 105mm FH Batt
1 Sniper
It should be noted that the game would not let hellcat call for reinforcements! I didn't know, obviously, or I would not have called for them.
I lost 168 men and 4 AFV's. hellcat lost 527 men, 5 Arty, 6 soft vehicles, 2 APC's, 16 AFV's, and one transport aircraft. Most of my losses started near the end, after hellcat adapted to the short range. When he did adapt, OUCH!

The Tommygun worked well! So did the Quad .50's.
I know hellcat won't choose the quad .50 park as his DZ again! Three quad .50's covering eachother! Sorta like a grinding wheel on his paras.

night fighting is infantry fighting for sure for sure, may as well give the hellcats a night out on the town next time, with armour 13 (man that's like a halftack! not that I'm dissing my beautiful machines) they're no good at 3 hex fighting. Jumbo Jumbo I reckon. Should have used Gliders instead of transports too, and dropped more. My next night fight with Goblin will be an altogether different tale I have plans, plans I shan't give away just yet... meanwhile his Green Team are breaking out of Normandy and my kampfgruppe are going to stop him. You hear that Green Team??
