I just had a mental image of a platoon of Pintos (with full gas tanks, natch) being used as a suicide mine clearing force...

"Better dirty than dead!"
Whoa. That's interesting. I believe the concept of reenactment groups are so much more common in the US than over here..
Question: Does the group have any hardware, and if so; authentic or replicas?
I'd love to have a 251 on my driveway... :p
Someone took mine and won't give it back

At one time my screen name was Grenadier, before that it was Intrepid. I used Intrepid before joining the Raiders way back on the OLD TGN forum and mailing list for SPWW2. When the Kunel asked me to join the Raiders he suggested Grenadier as my focus was on the Germans. I registered on the matrix Forum about 3 weeks after it started as I was too busy finishing scenarios for SPWaW version 1 and writing the FAQ and manual. By the time I got around to registering, Grenadier was taken. I tried contacting the person who has it to get it back but no luck, so I stay with my name. I have considered changing it to something like GFM which Don Doom and Rocking Harry aleways call me or General der Panzertruppe as I call myself sometimes to the Lost Victories team as GFM seem to high and pretentious a rank. For now I will stick with my name

Mine comes from my all time favorite show when I was a kid.
Combat - yes I am that old now I guess!
When Sgt. Saunders was out in the field with his squad and if they happened to have a radio with them. When ever he would call back to the platoon c.p. it went like this:
Checkmate King2 this is WhiteRook over!
Over 30 years latter and I have never forgotten that line! so
when I started getting into forums online I chose this without
even thinking about it.
Most people that feel like they know me just call me Rook.
Goblin - A Goblin looks good under a Sherman's Trac's

Wow - it's been closer to 40 years for me since I heard that line.
Brings back memories ...

See Staff Car
There's no way I'm gonna go down the "Which tank was better" road. Thats been hashed and rehashed here too many times.
I played "Kittens" for years, still do from time to time, but the first time I killed a Tiger with a bottom hit from a .50 cal AAMG, I fell in love with M4's:)

Any of you ASL or even Squad Leader hard core types remember Sgt Kelso?
That's where I got the 9-1 part from.
Kelso was a German Squad Leader counter whose rating was 9 morale -1 leader modifier.
Man I did some awesome things with Kelso. My buddy and myself, we always had to have Kelso involved if we were the German player in a game.
If something happened to Kelso the battle was surely doomed.
We just never got attached to any of the other counters over the years.

I used to wonder what the "9-1" was.
Even after reading many of your postings about ASL I never clued in ..
(Pehaps if you were "Feldwebel" instead of "Sarge" ...)

And I thought you were 9-1 instead of 10-3 just to avoid all the snipers around here...

Tricky question that San bit....
Depends on the Forum I think.
And yes 9-1 seems about right for me.
I have the grit of a Sarge or Feldwebel, but heaven forbid I should ever become tainted and wears officers rank (shudders at the thought).
Hey I worked for a living heheh:D

I just thought the old political cartoon was hillarious. Alas, I've only been able to find ONE image of it on the web:
