You really should tell him that the extra supply he dumped at Oahu ends up in your base....While it doesnt matter here if he tried a seige it would be seen as a broken mechanic.

It most likely only ended up with Yank because he was seriously lowering his numbers of troops. I'd have to look at my test scenario again, but I think units can store many times their "supply required", it's unlikely that you'll ever throw enough supplies onto an island you're sieging to go above that limit, unless you're taking massive casualties or are evacuating. That is, if that limit really exists and it isn't something like 'when you destroy squads/ squads get evacuated in a unit that was storing too much supplies, you capture these', if that is the rule, simply bringing in supplies will never give it to your opponent, unless you're taking large casualties.

For normal landings yes but if i was seiging PH i would dump several months worth of supply there as you dont want AKs to get hit by CDs again..

bklooste - thanks for pointing this out. You are correct, Undercovergeek should know about that supply oddity and be aware that something may be wrong. I will email him.

It is now 3/5/42 and I am still not able to determine exactly what ‘Geek is up to in Hawaii. I have stepped up recon over the big island and Lahaina and there appear to be lots of troops, and lots of transports, but I cannot tell if they are coming or going. Troops levels do not appear to be shrinking at Lahaina so, perhaps he intends to hold on to everything he’s got and put up an air-sea blockade around Oahu to starve me out in the long-term now that he has withdrawn his ground units. And it would take a while to starve me as I have 120k + in supplies right now. As noted in a previous post, hanging around in Hawaii would not be my strategic choice at this point if I were the Japanese player, but if this is what he’s doing so be it.

I had sent in a two carrier strike force to poke around Oahu and see what I could find, and on the last turn they tangled with the Japanese. There were several LBA strikes from Lahaina that sank a couple of my CLs but did not scratch the paint on the CVs. My CVs got off 2 strikes and roughed up 6 or 7 xAKs and 2 large AOs at Lahaina. I think most or all will sink. My second strike lost coordination with its fighter cover and my SBDs and pilots took a real beating without scoring any hits. It will take me sometime to recover from the losses in planes and pilots. Also an xAK convoy I had sent to Oahu with about 50k supplies got shot up and a few transports lost. I have turned these around back to SF along with my carriers. All appear to be out of harm’s way from LBA now.

Not sure what next steps are. Americal is uloading at Pago Pago and I have a singe CV TF covering that. Once completed I may send her back into the Timor area, as the Japanese have been landing there and I don’t think their air power is very strong in that region right now. Have to be careful of KB.

Will post again in a few days. No plans to monkey around with Hawaii right now. I am withdrawing naval units for the time being while I consider my next move.
