I'm guessing that it is either Sharpsburg (Antietam) or Murfreesboro (Stones River). I put the alternate names in there for those of you who only speak Yankee...

The 3" rifle definitely indicates ACW to me. Murfreesboro sounds reasonable as well since that is a flat part of Tennessee.

Don't know, but you can tell by the cannons its probably from the Civil War. I would guess those are Napoleons.

Then again the OP is from England so it could be from Waterloo-La Haute St or Hugonot farm...

You are at Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, MD. More precisely, you are walking in the field just to the East of the Visitor Center about 30 to 40 meters. The camera view and your direction of travel is approximately North by Northeast. Judging by the state of the grass and the humidity generating haze, I would guess that it is July.

The two to the right are bronze napoleons. They are green from the copper. The far left gun is a 3" rifle (iron, not bronze). Definitely ACW not Boney times.

wwengr's pic pretty well settles it IMO.

You know...bomb the boats, feed the fish. Seriously, why do I have to watch a squadopn of F-16s do a flyby at a football game? (I'm half in the bag on Caaaanuck beer)[:D]

Definitely Gettysburg.  I was there last April.

One day isn't enough...

M-

Small world! My son and were there last April as well. We spent the weekend, and that was STILL not enough. Went back this summer and spent a week. That was enough time to explore, but boy howdy were we tired after that.
