Gone gold as in off to the presses? no there won't be a store retail, purely online. So I don't think it will take long to package it up if you don't account for Q&A. Mind you I can only imagine, as I'm not privy to the internal workings of Matrixgames.

Well it doesn't have to mean going to retail. it could also mean that they have to print manuals/boxes and cd/dvd for mail order. Or is DW just going to be online downloading only?

Given that virtually every game publisher on the planet tries to release their games on a Tuesday, my first guess would be March 9th.

On the other hand, however, Matrix does do things a little differently (and thank goodness for that!), so perhaps the 10th would be a better guess.

This thread is completely dead, so guess after a two week old thread on a closer time frame is no fair, because when the op first started this there was wild speculation fueled by Matrix, then killed by a rash of flus at the Matrix Office.

Only in North America; in Europe it's on a Friday. IIRC, that's something to do with the way brick & mortar stores operate, though, and Matrix aren't bound by such limitations.

Codeforce/Matrix games will make it an April 1st release, but on the day....it will be announced that in fact this forum (and the people commenting in it), the screenshots, the website and indeed the game Distant Worlds itself have all been part of one of the ultimate April fools pranks. Ever. The whole thing is a hoax!!
