Come on I cant wait any longer. Please invite me to this beta or even better release this game soon! The teasing, I can't withstand it anymore. Better than Galciv2, no clickfest: sounds perfect!

You can declare war whenever you want, but don't expect that others will forget it. If you play as a backstabbing warmonger, you can expect the other factions to treat you as such. I completely tanked my reputation among the other races in one test game, generally playing as a complete #$&*&! and pretty soon I had just about everyone deciding the galaxy would be better off without me!
Does this mean that you can talk with all the other factions in the galaxy even if you've never happened upon them?
I really don't like that, I would prefer it to be more like Civilization; there you're able to initiate diplomacy with the other factions as soon and after you meet them.
Being able to immediately communicate with someone who lives across the galaxy doesn't seem that "realistic"

No, you have to have had some contact with them, or an "introduction" through someone else. With that said, I find pan-galactic communication pretty realistic in a sci-fi game that allows interstellar travel.

That's good to hear.

I'm assuming he meant realistic in the context of talking to races you hadn't discovered yet. :)

Exactly that, sorry for not giving a thorough explanation.

First thing:Tutorial&Manual.
It is must do for any newbie.
I remember when I started my adventure with EU2. I was experienced gamer then and thinked that I didnt need tutorial. I was wrong. My ass was kicked painfully and after my WTF is this game I resign. I come back after a year and do tutorial first, then I fall in love with this game. Have more fun with this that I can expected.
Then do tutorial.
Anyway what version of game do you have?
I hope that you get at last EU3 with In Nomine expansion. the best is ofcourse Heir to the Throne. Vanilia isnt very good done. Like most of Paradox games vanilai suffers from many bugs and lack polishing. But with expansions it is great game.
When you do tutorial, you can look for some parts in manual but this isnt must see.
Then take some strong and EUROPEAN country to play. France is fun to play for first time, but also you can take Portugal, Spain, Austria or England. My favoforite is Poland, Serbia and Sweden but I dont recomended them(especialy Seweden and Serbia) for new players.
Some advice.
1) Start investing in Goverment technology. When you hit 4level you can take first national idea - I recomended taking National Bank(thx to this you can mint some money and dont cause or lower infations). Hiring some Statesmans(for bonus to Goverment tech) is very helpfull.
2)Stability. Important indicator(min -3 max +3) try have on plus. Higher stability mean more income and less revolts lower less income more rebels.
3)War. Before starting war try get some allies. Also when you start war try gat a reason to attack them. If you fight without reason your stability will suffer. Look for war weariness. Longer wars, enemy ocuping your provincess, lost soldiers and deafets in battles make this indicator go up. This mean more rebels and make your country less productive.
4)Infamy. When you take lands in peace deals dont take too much in short time if you dont have core on them. If you take land whose yu dont have right to them your reputation will suffer and everybody will hate you.
This game can be though on newcomers and even on seazoned veterans.
LAst time when I playing I make some lousy mistakes and lose half teritory on my country.
Play and try.
