sorry for being a littel slow, if I get a retail version of a game that uses steam, does that mean EVERY time I launch I need to use steam or just once
If it needs Steam to activate you will always need the steam client but not necessasarily steam or to be online to play it. Steam does have a feature to allow you to play activated games in an offline mode. It's more or less like a big brother standing outside your door but not always in your room guarding his property.
lol - omg - are you actually that childish that you changed your sig to include me to get my back up just because I "suggested" you shouldn't name people in your sig? How old are you? 4?

More ^ Trolling of course. But, to answer your question nobody's sig is part of the post it is a sig thus is not part of the topic or discussion. You choose to troll about it nobody else does. [:D]

Don't talk utter bollocks. Your sig IS part of your post and you damn well know it. It's also a violation of the rules as it is clearly designed to bait and badger...so why don't you act grown up for a moment and remove the sig? hmm? Come on....be a growed up for a moment...see how it feels??

I passed before due to steam but more importantly it was underdeveloped imo and buggy.. seems alot of the bugs are gone... also my new rig runs remarkable well forthe utter crap they cobbled it together with, NEVER shold have opened up the case lol
and you two might want to take your little war ofline.. or not.. thanks for the input all...
I think its funny as an aside, NAppy tw was to be released on the 23rd here, and while technically it is try getting a boxed copy!

not all will cut the proverbial mustard BUTsome will farsurpase our hopes.. WITE pbem anyone? So the discussion of steam, and online in general, ROF others, brings up the whole drm issue and what is the best way as a community to support those who labor and hinder piracy... again topic for another thread.. thanks all for the help, I have decided I probably can live with Steam, but I don't want to!!! lol

Never mind STEAM(ing pile of ****), I'm more worried about the excessive troll feeding... or, more precisely, the fact that it's taking place in one of the few parts of these forums that I read regularly. ;/

Incidentally, from within the Steam client you can access the new Beta client. Wow. It's about a thousand times better. Looks better, arranged better. And it no longer relies on Internet Explorer dependencies as a framework...the rebuilt the entire client on a new WebKit system. A LOT faster.
Some people have had some problems with Friends lists or it suddenly wanting to re-download a game (it IS a Beta), but I'd recommend it. It should be accessible from the News Updates list over on the right of the original client.

Yep, must have internet connection the whole time IIRC.....Only used Stream once a long long time ago.......never again.
This is incorrect. I have Steam on my laptop and play games with it on offline mode.

That completly depends on the game. Some games nativly use steam even when sold retail. They will force you to have steam running etc. While some simply allow you to register and so you can download from steam but otherwise not use it. Then ofc theres some games like every new Ubisoft game that requires constant internet connection as part of there DRM bought from steam or not.

You dont have to be in internet to launch steam games. The thing works offline too. I prefer launching my all my games from it even non-steam ones because I like having all games in one neat list.

Oh God a Steam thread.
"OMG! The... Glare... from... his-head-the-GLARE!"
*sigh*
One time I was with my wife and 16 year old girl in Best Buy. When I was in the movie section my soon to be grounded for life 16 year old girl came up to me and said she found me by the glare off of my bald head! [:(]
